About this Role:

This role leads the bids and pursuits function across the West Region's business units and manages the region's bids & pursuits team. This is a people leadership role. You will set direction for a team that includes coordinators to manager-level direct reports, set the standard for submission quality across the region, and partner directly with the West Region Business Lead, business unit leaders, and end market leaders to decide where the region competes and how it positions to win.

You will oversee pursuit strategy for the region end to end, from early positioning through capture, proposal development, and debrief, and you will scale the team as the region's pipeline grows.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the West Region's pursuit team, setting priorities, workload, and quality standards across their pursuits.
  • Build and develop the broader regional pursuit team, including hiring, coaching, and career pathing for proposal managers and coordinators.
  • Partner with the West Region Business Lead, business unit leaders, and end market leaders to set pursuit strategy, competitive positioning, and prioritization across the region.
  • Own submission quality and standards for every pursuit that goes out of the West Region.
  • Lead capture and execution on the region's most strategic pursuits, including sole-source and limited-competition opportunities.
  • Facilitate go/no-go decisions with regional and business unit leadership, applying consistent criteria across end markets.
  • Manage and write proposal content, interviewing practice leaders and subject matter experts to extract win themes, engagement experience, and firm positioning.
  • Manage the end-to-end solicitation process but initiation through to submission, including shortlist and interview preparation.
  • Own Salesforce pipeline integrity for the West Region, including revenue forecasts, probability adjustments, and stage progression across the portfolio.
  • Identify pull-through opportunities across business units and end markets within the region, and coordinate with business unit leaders to convert them.
  • Lead client debriefs for the region and feed what is learned back into positioning across business units and end markets.
  • Scale the West Region pursuit function as the region's footprint and pipeline expand, including staffing plans and resourcing decisions.
  • Represent the West Region in enterprise growth discussions and strategy meetings.
  • Set and reinforce best-practice proposal management standards region-wide, including pursuit planning, compliance review, content development, win theme articulation, and production quality, while fostering cross-functional coordination with Sales, Marketing, Contracts, and Knowledge teams.


Required:
  • Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree or professional certification preferred.
  • 12 to 15 years of experience in proposal writing/management within capital program services or professional services environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and developing a team, including manager-level direct reports, not only individual contributors.
  • Track record partnering with senior business unit or regional leadership to set pursuit strategy and priorities.
  • Working knowledge of how professional services and advisory engagements are scoped, priced, and evaluated by buyers.
  • Experience managing pipeline strategy and forecasting within Salesforce or a comparable CRM system.
  • Strong executive communication and client engagement skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, including use of styles and templates.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience across multiple end markets within the AEC industry.
  • Experience developing proposals for infrastructure markets, including aviation, transit, water, roads and highways.
  • APMP or Shipley certification.
  • Adobe Creative Cloud, including InDesign and Illustrator.


Compensation: Varies based on experience and location $100,000-$160,000.

Working hours & location:

Full-time, Exempt. Standard business hours with occasional evenings and weekends during peak workloads. Hybrid or Remote role with approximately 10% travel. Candidates based within the West Region and within proximity to a Consertus office are preferred.
