Senior Manager, Product Public Relations

The Opportunity

This role is accountable for development and execution of communications and public relations strategies that are integrated with Commercial, Public Affairs & Access, U.S. Medical Affairs, cross-functional Global colleagues and other internal stakeholders. The candidate for this role will have an understanding of the communications and campaign requirements for reaching a wide range of audiences, including media, healthcare professionals, patients and policy makers.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and execute insights-driven, high impact and integrated U.S. communications and public relations strategies in support of assigned therapy area and/or medicine(s), ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Proactively engage media and influencers (traditional and social) around data and regulatory milestones and opportune media moments.
  • Serve as media relations expert by maintaining relationships with key reporters, developing pitch angles with the goal of delivering thoughtful, positive news coverage.
  • Support issues preparedness. Anticipate emerging issues and develop mitigation plans, including scenario planning, timely internal stakeholder alignment, message development, training for key internal stakeholders and issues supervising.
  • Work closely with Legal, Regulatory, Medical and other key internal stakeholders on the review and approval of multiple materials/assets.
  • Effectively manage agency relationship and budget to ensure delivery of their support through clear objectives, KPIs, continued drive for excellence and innovation.

Qualifications   

  • 8+ years of experience and established track-record of delivering impactful, strategic and content-rich communications programs, and proactive stakeholder management with demonstrable measures of success.
  • Solid understanding of clinical data and regulatory milestones. Experience in translating scientific/technical content for a broad range of audiences.
  • Experience in crafting consumer- and HCP-facing campaigns supporting brand strategic objectives; ability to apply patient journey and other audience insights to develop programming effecting behavior change.
  • Ability to combine strategic thinking with hands-on-delivery.
  • Ability to work independently, but knows when to flag potential issues to manager and leadership in a timely manner.
  • Outstanding writing skills and proven media relations and digital communications skills.
  • Strong oral and presentation skills; ability to negotiate and persuade.
  • Significant experience in leading issues preparedness and issues management in a similar environment.
  • Proven capability to influence and counsel senior leaders and teams across functions and geographical boundaries.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and deal with rapidly changing priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; hardworking team player and self-starter.
  • Ability to work in a global environment including understanding of cultural differences.
  • Requires about 25 to 35% domestic travel.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $141,700.00 – $263,100.00.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  This position is eligible to earn incentive compensation that is calculated and paid in accordance with the applicable Incentive Compensation Plan for the role.
