SummaryThe Senior General Ledger ("GL") Accounting Manager is a strategic leader on Workiva's General Ledger Accounting team, providing end-to-end oversight of statutory reporting across our international entities, ensuring the integrity of key general ledger areas, and developing a high-performing team. In this critical role, the Senior Manager serves as a trusted advisor to business partners, helping optimize business outcomes while ensuring accurate accounting. Reporting to the Director of General Ledger Accounting, this role leads a team of accountants, coordinates the statutory process across the office of the CAO, Legal, statutory auditors, and other third parties, delivers monthly management reporting and executive reviews for assigned areas, and supports close review, optimization, and governance. The role requires strong technical accounting acumen, people leadership, and the ability to influence across Finance and the business.
What You'll Do- Provide end-to-end oversight and coordination of the annual statutory reporting process across multiple international entities, including US GAAP to local GAAP adjustments, financial statements, and filings
- Lead and develop a team of direct reports, including full-time staff and contractors, through coaching, clear priorities, and a strong customer service focus
- Review month-, quarter-, and year-end close deliverables for critical balance sheet areas (debt, investments, prepaids, intangibles, and fixed assets), including account reconciliations, journal entries, and analytical review
- Deliver monthly management reporting for assigned areas, including analytics and executive review decks for Finance leadership
- Conclude on complex transactions under local GAAP and partner with Technical Accounting on US GAAP treatment
- Serve as a trusted advisor to business partners, including Strategic Sourcing and Procurement, Accounts Payable, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Legal, to understand new activities and provide financial guidance
- Drive close optimization and strengthen close governance by evaluating manual processes and leveraging automation and AI-driven tools to reduce manual intervention
- Communicate close results, critical accounting matters, and statutory reporting status to management
- Develop, maintain, and improve accounting policies and process documentation
- Lead and support ad hoc initiatives and cross-functional projects, including system enhancements and onboarding of new entities
What You'll NeedMinimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including in publicly traded companies
- 3 years of direct people management experience
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or equivalent certification
Public accounting and industry experience - Operational and technical accounting knowledge of US GAAP and local GAAP
- Experience preparing, reviewing, or providing oversight for financial statements and statutory reports, engaging with local auditors across multiple jurisdictions
- Technical accounting experience with debt, investments, prepaids, intangibles, and fixed assets
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles and internal controls
- Proficiency with accounting and financial systems (Sage Intacct, BlackLine, BNA, Coupa, Workday, and Workiva experience preferred)
- Advanced computer skills (Google and/or MS Office suites) including spreadsheet data analysis
- Experience in a global environment
- Ability to manage multiple projects, processes, and deadlines simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and drive teams to deliver high-impact results
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail and critical thinking
- Positive and professional demeanor, with excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with team members at various levels and departments
- High level of integrity
Travel Requirements & Working Conditions- Ability to travel up to 10% for internal events and team meetings
- Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely and not in a Workiva office
How You'll Be Rewarded• Salary range in the US: $133,000.00 - $225,000.00
• A discretionary bonus typically paid annually
• Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire
