Some of what you will do:

The Senior Manager, Internal Communications leads the development and delivery of strategic communications that connect team members to Staples Canada's priorities, purpose and values. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and a strategic partner across the organization, this role translates complex business priorities into clear, compelling and audience-focused communications that strengthen understanding, engagement and confidence.

The role provides enterprise-wide leadership across corporate and internal communications, executive and leader communications, HR and change communications, and selected external and B2B initiatives. It establishes strong governance, channel strategy and editorial discipline while ensuring communications are timely, inclusive, consistent and aligned with business objectives. The Senior Manager also builds productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, uses insights and measurements to improve effectiveness, and leads key programs and events that bring the company's culture and priorities to life.

Specifically, You Will:
  • Develop and execute enterprise-wide internal communications strategies, annual plans, and editorial priorities that align with company goals, values, and business objectives.
  • Serve as a trusted communications advisor to senior leaders, providing strategic counsel on messaging, audience engagement, timing, risk management, and communication channels.
  • Create and deliver high-impact executive communications, including leadership announcements, town halls, presentations, speaking notes, FAQs, and enterprise messaging.
  • Lead communications planning and execution for organizational change, business transformation initiatives, HR programs, and other strategic priorities.
  • Oversee internal communication channels and content, including the editorial calendar, intranet, newsletters, email communications, meetings, and events.
  • Plan and support major enterprise events and engagement initiatives, including leadership conferences, town halls, recognition programs, and culture, inclusion, and community impact activities.
  • Establish communications governance, measurement, and reporting practices to assess effectiveness, drive continuous improvement, and ensure consistent, high-quality communications across the organization.


Some of what you need:
  • University or college degree, or equivalent experience. A specialization in corporate Communication, public relations, or a related field is an asset.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information and tailor communications for varied audiences, including senior leadership.
  • Proven ability to lead communications for large-scale enterprise events, including national town halls, leadership conferences, sales rallies and organizational meetings, while partnering with senior executives to develop compelling content, presentations and messaging that drive engagement and alignment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop communications strategies and convert ideas and business priorities into practical, well-executed plans.
  • Strong project, event and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, changing requirements and tight timelines.
  • Experience developing executive presentations and proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint: familiarity with intranet, email, measurement and multimedia tools is an asset.
  • Ability to use insights, metrics and stakeholder feedback to evaluate communications and make data-informed recommendations.
  • Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.
  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in corporate communications, internal communications, change communications or a related business environment, including experience advising senior leaders and leading enterprise-wide programs while incorporating DEI best practices.


Physical demands/working conditions:
  • Office environment - Hybrid, with 4 days onsite in Richmond Hill, subject to the hybrid policy.
