The Role

Lead the operational planning, execution and successful delivery of all tournamentoperations associated with the Sony Championship. Reporting the Tournament Director, this role leads the operational planning process, oversees venue and vendor management, develops event infrastructure, manages budgets and ensures an exceptional experience for players, partners, spectators, volunteers, Sony and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Tournament Operations

  • Develop and execute the tournament operations plan from initial planning through event completion.

  • Build and maintain comprehensive operational timelines and project plans.

  • Oversee all venue infrastructure including tents, structures, utilities, fencing, flooring, signage, décor and temporary facilities.

  • Lead site planning and venue logistics.

  • Manage tournament build and tear-down schedules.

  • Oversee volunteer recruitment, organizational structure and training.

  • Ensure operational readiness across all functional areas.

Vendor & Supplier Management

  • Source, negotiate and manage operational vendors and contractors.

  • Develop scopes of work and monitor vendor performance.

  • Manage procurement and equipment rentals.

  • Ensure vendors meet contractual obligations, safety requirements and event standards.

Venue & Course Operations

  • Serve as the primary operational liaison with the host venue.

  • Coordinate course setup requirements with tournament officials.

  • Manage compound locations, parking plans, transportation routes and back-of-house operations.

  • Coordinate utilities, power, water, internet and communications infrastructure.

Budget Management

  • Develop and manage the tournament operations budget.

  • Monitor expenditures and identify cost efficiencies.

  • Process purchase orders and invoices.

  • Assist with financial forecasting and reconciliation.


Key Results Areas

  • Maximize expense budgets while maintaining best in class experiences, both at the individual and aggregate level

  • Build the prestige, profile, and sustainable brand equity of each event and program

  • Provide tangible thought leadership across events and geographic regions

  • Affect innovation / change within a traditional sport

Essential Job Knowledge and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required

  • 8+ years work experience in events, hospitality and/or sponsorship services

  • Strong organization, communication and interpersonal skills

  • Attention to detail; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and produce high quality work

  • Willingness to travel work non-traditional hours and weekends; ability to travel

  • Effective in both independent and team working environments

  • Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint is essential. Experience with design programs desirable

Hiring pay rates are based on a number of factors, including location and may vary depending on job-related qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience. Hiring Rate Minimum:

$75,000 annually(minimum will not fall below the applicable State/local minimum salary thresholds)

Hiring Rate Maximum:

$100,000 annually
