About the Role & Team

Capella is looking for an energetic Senior Electrical Engineer Manager who will be responsible for leading and managing a team of electrical engineers who design, develop, and test electrical systems and components. This role involves supporting project execution, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and driving innovation of our electrical systems within our satellite.

This role will sit within the Spacecraft Engineering team at Capella Space. This team contains a variety of engineering disciplines that design and develop the satellite and payload systems.

Role Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of electrical engineers, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback of a distributed team across two offices.
    • Assign people to tasks and manage workloads to ensure timely project completion.
    • Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment.
  • Project Oversight:
    • Oversee the design, development, and testing of electrical systems and components for our application.
    • Allocate resources effectively to meet project goals and deadlines.
    • Support systems engineering requirements.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Provide technical expertise and guidance on electrical design, integration, and troubleshooting.
    • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements.
    • Drive continuous improvement in electrical engineering practices and processes.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure compliance with aerospace industry standards, including safety, reliability, and regulatory requirements.
    • Implement and enforce quality assurance procedures to maintain high standards in all engineering activities.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; a Master's degree or higher is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 12 years of experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex board designs and systems in a hardware R&D lab environment, with 4 years in a managerial or leadership role.
    • Proven experience in aerospace systems, or similar high reliability industry, and components is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
    • Understanding of hardware evaluation methodologies, including development of test cases/suites, performance analysis, test automation, and data analysis
    • Extensive experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, thermal chambers, and other test equipment
    • Experience with I2C, SPI, PCIe, USB, etc.
    • Experience designing modern analog and digital electronics
    • Experience in PCB schematic capture & layout
    • Experience with Altium designer tools or other similar electronic CAD tools
    • Experience designing high reliability systems
    • Knowledge of the PCBA fabrication and assembly process
    • Familiarity with PLM tools and strong revision control practices
    • Excellent design and manufacturing documentation skills with attention to detail
    • Ability to work autonomously by determining and evaluating different courses of action independently
    • Strong technical communication skills to be used in a highly collaborative environment

Compensation

The annual salary range for this role as it is posted is $192,979 - $252,659. The final job level and annual salary will be determined based on the education, qualification, knowledge, skills, ability, and experience of the final candidate(s), specific office location and calibrated against relevant market data and internal team equity.
