Job Description SENIOR MANAGER, DATA ENGINEERING & ANALYTICS

The Role
Reporting to the Executive Director, Enterprise Optimization, Data & Insights, you contribute value through key areas of oversight such as:
- Leading and developing a team of data and analytics professionals, providing coaching, mentorship, and direction while fostering a high-performing and collaborative team environment;
- Leading the Platform Data Engineering, Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, and Business Intelligence functions, ensuring the delivery of trusted data, reporting, and analytics capabilities that support business decision-making across the organization;
- Establishing and promoting enterprise standards, best practices, and modern engineering approaches that support secure, scalable, and well-governed data and analytics solutions;
- Overseeing the development, operation, and continuous improvement of enterprise data platforms and products, ensuring information is reliable, accessible, and aligned with business and reporting needs;
- Providing technical and operational leadership to maintain platform performance, stability, security, and data quality while advancing the modernization of BC Ferries' data and analytics environment;
- Partnering with business leaders, technology teams, and analytics users to prioritize and deliver solutions that improve operational efficiency, enable self-service analytics, and support emerging AI initiatives;
- Driving alignment across data platform, engineering, and analytics teams to ensure consistent, scalable, and high-quality data capabilities across BC Ferries;
What you bring to the team
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, Data Analytics, Business Technology, or a related field; a Master's degree is considered an asset
- 10+ years of hand on experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, or related data platform roles
- 5+ years of experience leading and mentoring technical teams
- Certified Data Professional (CDP) designation is considered an asset
- Experience building and supporting enterprise data and analytics capabilities, with strong knowledge of modern data platforms, cloud technologies, governance practices, and engineering best practices that enable trusted business insights and decision-making
- Proven ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with business leaders, stakeholders, and technical teams to deliver solutions that address complex organizational challenges
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills, complemented by demonstrated leadership, change management, and influencing capabilities that drive continuous improvement and organizational results
- Broad business and technical acumen, with the ability to balance operational delivery, team leadership, and long-term strategic priorities

Additional information
The target salary range: $125,400 - $156,800 per annum. The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate’s knowledge, experience and internal equity.
