We are seeking a Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting to own WHOOP's monthly and quarterly close and lead our operational accounting team. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this role is the engine of a fast, accurate, and well-controlled close, owning the general ledger, the close calendar, and the day-to-day operational accounting functions that keep WHOOP's books reliable and audit-ready. You will lead, mentor, and develop a team of accountants while partnering closely with Revenue, Technical Accounting, FP&A, Payroll, and Operations to ensure results are complete, accurate, and clearly explained to leadership and external auditors. This role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA, and follows a hybrid schedule. The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary to work out of the Boston, MA office. RESPONSIBILITIES • Own the monthly and quarterly close end-to-end, including the close calendar, journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and flux/variance analysis, with clear tie-outs to the financial statements. • Lead, mentor, and develop the operational accounting team, setting clear ownership, review standards, and deadlines while building the bench needed to scale with the business. • Drive a faster, higher-quality close by streamlining workflows, standardizing reconciliations, and establishing consistent review and sign-off procedures across the general ledger. • Own core operational accounting areas, cash, prepaids and accruals, fixed assets, leases, and intangibles, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and on time across entities. • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and chart of accounts, ensuring transactions are recorded in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policy. • Partner cross-functionally to ensure all areas of the ledger are integrated into a cohesive, well-controlled close. • Strengthen internal controls over the close and operational accounting processes, building documentation and review procedures in alignment with SOX and public company expectations. • Support quarterly reviews and annual audits by preparing reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation, and by responding to auditor inquiries. • Drive process improvement and automation across the close, identifying opportunities to enhance accuracy and efficiency through ERP capabilities, BI tooling, and AI-driven solutions. • Contribute to public company readiness by strengthening accounting processes, documentation, and reporting cadence in alignment with SEC and SOX expectations. QUALIFICATIONS • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including a strong foundation in public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and experience in a corporate/general ledger accounting role at a high-growth technology or consumer company. • Demonstrated ownership of a monthly and quarterly close, including the close calendar, reconciliations, and financial statement tie-outs. • People leadership experience, with a track record of building, mentoring, and developing high-performing accounting teams. • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience operating within a controlled, SOX-aware (or public company readiness) environment. • CPA preferred. • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. • Experience with a modern ERP (e.g., NetSuite) and comfort working with large data sets; experience implementing process automation or AI-driven solutions within accounting or close workflows is a plus. • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate accounting results and judgments into clear, accessible narratives for stakeholders across Finance and the broader business. • Strong alignment with WHOOP's mission and brand, with genuine energy for contributing to a high-growth, mission-driven organization. Interested in the role, but don't meet every qualification? We encourage you to still apply! At WHOOP, we believe there is much more to a candidate than what is written on paper, and we value character as much as experience. As we continue to build a diverse and inclusive environment, we encourage anyone who is interested in this role to apply. The WHOOP compensation philosophy is designed to attract, motivate, and retain exceptional talent by offering competitive base salaries, meaningful equity, and consistent pay practices that reflect our mission and core values. At WHOOP, total compensation is viewed as the combination of base salary, equity, and benefits, with equity serving as a key differentiator that aligns employees with the long-term success of the company and allows every member of the corporate team to own part of WHOOP and share in the company's long-term growth and success. The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $135,000 - $175,000. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within each range, individual pay is based on factors such as job-related skills, experience, performance, and relevant education or training. In addition to the base salary, the successful candidate will also receive benefits and a generous equity package. These ranges may be modified in the future to reflect evolving market conditions and organizational needs. While most offers will typically fall toward the starting point of the range, total compensation will depend on the candidate's specific qualifications, expertise, and alignment with the role's requirements.
