Overview

Lead cross-functional teams responsible for the development, validation, and production support of battery management systems for lithium-ion battery products. Drive product strategy, system architecture, and execution across hardware, software, controls, and manufacturing functions to ensure performance, safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Collaborate with engineering, operations, suppliers, and customers to deliver reliable BMS solutions, resolve technical challenges, and support new product introductions. Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources while fostering continuous improvement, innovation, and team development in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor the team of BMS engineers, software developers and controls specialists.
  • Establish technical roadmaps, project priorities, and resource planning.
  • Drive employee development, performance management, and succession planning.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Define and oversee BMS system architecture, requirements, and technical specifications.
  • Lead development of battery monitoring, balancing, state estimation, diagnostics, and safety functions.
  • Ensure robust hardware and software integration for battery systems.
  • Guide technical decision-making throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Plan, organize, lead and manage multiple development programs, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate activities with pack engineering, validation, manufacturing, and quality teams.
  • Track project milestones and mitigate technical and program risks.
  • Support product launches and continuous product improvements.
  • Lead compliance activities to applicable standards including:
    • ISO 26262 Functional Safety
    • IEC 61508 (where applicable)
    • UL 1998
    • Battery safety and regulatory requirements
  • Support safety analyses including DFMEA, FMEDA, FTA, and HARA activities.
  • Lead safety reviews and technical audits.
  • Develop and Direct verification and validation activities
  • Review test results and drive issue resolution.
  • Ensure product reliability and quality targets are achieved.
  • Serve as the primary technical leader for BMS-related discussions with customers, suppliers, and internal leadership.
  • Support business development and customer presentations.
  • Collaborate with battery cell suppliers and system integrators.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Extensive experience in battery management systems, lithium-ion battery technology, or related energy storage systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing technical teams and cross-functional engineering projects.
  • Strong understanding of battery system architecture, embedded systems, controls, electronics, and system integration.
