About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Manager to help lead our Ottawa Tech Team. If you have a passion for public accounting and a goal to one day reach partnership, we want to connect!

This role is to fill an existing vacancy.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage the accounting, audit and tax service needs of a portfolio of clients across a range of industry sectors
  • Identify new business opportunities and actively participate in business development
  • Manage the engagement process from initial scheduling, planning and work delegation through to client review and financial statement sign off
  • Effectively manage a team of Staff Accountants, Senior Staff Accountants and Managers
  • Review work and provide meaningful feedback on each engagement
  • Conduct timely performance reviews and provide performance feedback and coaching
  • Meet with clients regarding financial statements, other business matters and engagement issues
  • Provide journal entry and account reconciliation guidance to clients
  • Support of personal and corporate tax filing for many of these clients
  • Discuss proposed time budgets with partners and assign engagement budgets to staff
  • Manage the WIP and Accounts Receivable


Qualifications
  • Completion of all requirements to obtain CPA designation
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience with 4 of those years as a manager in a Public Accounting Firm
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and good team player
  • Excellent client/customer service skills
  • Able to effectively plan and organize work
  • Ability to adopt and deploy new technology and solutions to streamline work and create efficiencies
  • Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple assignments
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
