Overview
Job Title: Senior Machinist
Job Location: Melville, NY (100% onsite) Salary: $40.00-$50.00/hr DOE
Responsibilities
Set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools-including lathes, milling machines, drill presses, grinders, and Haas CNC machinery-to produce precision parts, tools, and fixtures from drawings, sketches, and operation sheets.
Read and interpret complex blueprints and engineering documentation, applying shop mathematics and GD&T.
Determine required machinery, sequence of operations, setups, and machining strategies.
Select proper cutting tools for each operation, including grinding, sharpening, and maintaining tooling.
Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other inspection tools to verify conformance.
Maintain excellent attention to detail, organization, and adherence to 5S standards to keep a clean and efficient shop environment.
Monitor ongoing shop activities and identify needs for new equipment, tooling, work holding/fixturing, and process improvements.
Qualifications
High School Diploma and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or associate's degree with a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience.
