Senior Loads and Dynamics Engineer - IAMD

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and validate detailed structural load cases and dynamic response analyses for missile airframes, magazines, propulsion systems, and subsystems using advanced modeling and simulation tools

  • Perform finite element modeling (FEM), modal analysis, transient dynamics, vibration, shock, and impact analyses to characterize missile system behavior under operational and environmental loads

  • Collaborate closely with design, test, and manufacturing teams to integrate loads and dynamics requirements into the overall design lifecycle

  • Interpret and apply relevant military standards and specifications pertaining to structural loads, vibration, and dynamics

  • Lead root cause analyses and provide technical direction to resolve structural and dynamic issues discovered during analysis, testing, and operation

  • Support system-level trade studies and design optimizations to reduce weight while maintaining structural integrity and reliability

  • Prepare, review, and approve engineering documentation including test plans, reports, specifications, and design reviews

  • Mentor junior engineers and provide subject matter expertise in loads and dynamics disciplines

  • Communicate technical information effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and external agencies

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)

  • 9+ years of experience in a related role

  • Proficiency with FEM software (e.g., ANSYS, NASTRAN) and dynamics simulation tools

  • Strong understanding of vibration, shock, acoustic loads, and structural dynamics

  • Experience with MIL-STD requirements related to missile systems

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Skill and ability to: collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment to produce high quality engineering products

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Prior Experience specifically with missile systems or defense aerospace projects

  • Familiarity with propulsion system dynamics and flight simulation tools

  • Experience with scripting and automation for analysis processes (e.g. Python, MATLAB)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Understanding of Boeing Engineering Standards and Design Practices

  • Experience with thermal and vibration environmental testing

  • Experience with stress, thermal and vibration/shock analysis

  • Strong ability to build trust and connection with the team and stakeholders

  • Strong ability to model and inspire servant leadership style, and model seek, speak, and listen behaviors

  • Flexibility, adaptability, and being comfortable with a highly dynamic and exciting work environment

  • Experience using Boeing Common Non-Recurring Product Development (C-NRPD) or equivalent Boeing Development Processes

  • Strong understanding of Finite Element Modeling techniques

  • Active U.S. Secret Clearance

Level 4: $126,650 - $171,350

Level 5: $154,700 - $209,300
