Position OverviewThe City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Senior Legal Assistant in the City Attorney's Office - Criminal Division. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year.
Under general supervision, provides paraprofessional support to attorneys in the City Attorney's Office (CAO); prepares legal documents within established guidelines, acts as a team leader and trainer for legal support staff; and performs related duties as assigned.
Note: This position is typically scheduled to work Monday - Thursday, however, the Senior Legal Assistant may be required to work weekends (Friday, Saturday, and/or Sunday) based on operational needs.

Minimum Qualifications - Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in law, criminal justice, or legal administration; or graduation from high school and successful completion of a course of study for paralegal studies with a special emphasis in the State of Nevada legal practices and procedures from an accredited organization
- Six (6) years of law-related work experience under the guidance of an attorney
- Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or "border state" driver's license, as defined by NRS 483
- Skill in typing sufficient to type 45 net words per minute
- Must have the ability to obtain a State of Nevada Notary Public Commission within the first six (6) months of employment, as a condition of continued employment
- Must pass a nationwide fingerprint-based record check, and a wants/warrants check
- Must complete Security Awareness and National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification within six months of hire/transfer and be recertified every two years. Must maintain certifications in NCIC/NCJIS as a condition of continued employment
- Desirable: Paralegal Certification from an accredited organization
