Senior Laboratory Analyst - Oil & Petroleum Lab - Kearl Lake

As a Senior Laboratory Analyst, your responsibilities are:
  • Conduct all bench-level analysis & associated procedures as per established laboratory protocol
  • Assist the Lab supervisor in production of high quality defensible data, safely and on time
  • Ensure methods in use meet current and proposed guidelines
  • Organize and mobilize floor staff, as directed by the supervisor
  • Promote and maintain a positive working environment that centers on the team being Invested, Engaged and Knowledgeable.


Leadership:
  • Act as a Safety Leader & Influencer at all time.
  • Fostering a collaborative team environment on the bench.
  • Proactively assist co-workers
  • Assist Supervisors in communicating goals so everyone understands them and their role in achieving them.
  • Assist Supervisors positioning team members to use their talents optimally.
  • Actively making suggestions and recommendations.
  • Promote high productivity and high quality standards on the floor
  • Motivate and inspire team members to do their best work
  • Keeping team members on task, on schedule; monitoring & supporting floor operations.
  • Maintaining morale and workplace harmony.
  • Ability to act as a liaison between the client and Bureau Veritas
  • Ability to make benchline decisions independently
  • Expected to step-up in operational matters when needed.


Science and Technology:
  • Provides technical support, guidance and leadership to Bureau Veritas' Operational staff, as well as sales and customers service.
  • Remains current with all laboratory changes affecting Bureau Veritas' laboratory and ensure appropriateness of analytical methods and systems to meet these requirements
  • Oversees and conducts technical tasks such as method validations, method development & optimization (LPOs).


Operations:
  • Execute routine laboratory tasks, as directed by the supervisors, including (but not limited to):
  • Safety Best Practices and Compliance Activities.
  • Daily Routine Analysis.
  • Quality Assurance and Control compliance activities.
  • Administrative Task
  • Act as a floor leader at all times monitoring output and any developing situations; escalating them where appropriate.
  • Act as floor role model, fostering a culture of excellence and care.
  • Assist in coordinating laboratory projects.
  • Participate in training staff, as directed by the Supervisors.
  • Evaluate and initiate problem solving in all areas of the laboratory, escalating to the Supervisors where needed.
  • Ensure instruments and equipment are being maintained appropriately; escalating issues and operational challenges to the Supervisors.
  • Provides senior level data review to ensure the appropriate level of quality in all analytical data and processes to meet the needs of the customer
  • Validate analytical data at the job level (Tier II data validation)
  • Prepare customized reporting and ensures adequacy of Report Formatting/Report Definition
  • Evaluate changes in present procedures, which could improve efficiency, recovery, productivity etc.
  • Keep work area clean, neat and organized
  • All tasks as directed by the Supervisors.


Customer Service:
  • Act as a resource to the supervisors in proposing solutions to customer requests.
  • Proactively support supervisors where needed in day-to-day client-facing activities.
  • Participate in meetings with the client, as a Bureau Veritas Brand ambassador.
  • Interact with the client in a business professional manner; aim to foster a productive and positive working relationship.


You are an ideal Laboratory Analyst if you have [Minimum Requirements]:
  • B.Sc., technical diploma or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated success in the role of Analyst - II
  • Up-to-date knowledge of laboratory process and automation
  • Thorough understanding of Bureau Veritas's Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
  • Assess problems and recommends solutions
  • Uses good judgement, trains and assists in resolution of employee relations issues
  • Strong computer skills
  • Good team building, training and coaching skills
  • Accurately follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and instructions
  • Detail oriented with accurate record keeping skills
  • Good time-management, multi-tasking and priority setting skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Positive outlook with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment
