Position Overview:

Beam Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated Senior IT Business Analyst to join our IT Lab Systems team. This role is responsible for administration, configuration, enhancement, and support of our LabVantage platform, including the Laboratory Execution System (LES), Scientific Data Management System (SDMS), external instrument/system integrations, and supporting laboratory automation technologies.

The successful candidate will partner closely with Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Information Technology, Validation, and laboratory scientists to deliver scalable, compliant, and efficient digital laboratory solutions supporting Beam's GMP and non-GMP operations. This position requires a strong combination of technical expertise, laboratory process knowledge, and system administration experience in regulated environment.

Responsibilities:

Laboratory Systems Administration
  • Administer and support Beam's LabVantage LIMS environment.
  • Configure and maintain master data including products, specifications, parameter lists, methods, workflows, and laboratory configurations.
  • Manage user administration, security roles, permissions, and access controls.
  • Support system upgrades, patches, releases, and platform lifecycle management.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot application issues.

Laboratory Execution System (LES)
  • Design, configure, and maintain electronic laboratory worksheets within LabVantage LES.
  • Collaborate with QC laboratories to convert paper-based processes into electronic workflows.
  • Develop reusable worksheet templates, calculations, prompts, and review workflows.
  • Support qualification and validation activities for new LES implementations.

SDMS and Data Management
  • Administer Scientific Data Management System (SDMS) functionality within LabVantage.
  • Manage instrument data collection and archival processes.
  • Support data retention, retrieval, and inspection readiness requirements.
  • Ensure laboratory data integrity and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.

Instrument Integration and Automation
  • Design, configure, and support integrations between laboratory instruments, compliant systems and LabVantage.
  • Support communication protocols, data parsing, result imports, and automated workflows.
  • Troubleshoot instrument interface issues and coordinate resolution with vendors and laboratory personnel.
  • Participate in laboratory automation initiatives involving analytical instruments, liquid handlers, and associated data systems.

Attachment Handler and Development Activities
  • Develop and maintain LabVantage Attachment Handler configurations and associated code.
  • Support file-based integrations and automated data ingestion workflows.
  • Create, maintain, and troubleshoot custom configurations and integrations.
  • Participate in system enhancement projects and implementation of new capabilities.

Cloud and Integration Support
  • Configure and support Amazon S3-based integrations for laboratory data exchange.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and integration teams to maintain secure data transfer processes.
  • Support interface monitoring, issue resolution, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Assist in implementation and maintenance of file-based and API-driven integrations between laboratory systems.

Business Partnership and Continuous Improvement
  • Work directly with QC scientists, laboratory managers, QA, and IT stakeholders to identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Gather business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
  • Participate in system governance, change management, and prioritization activities.
  • Provide end-user training and application support.

Compliance and Validation
  • Support Computer System Validation (CSV) activities in accordance with Beam procedures and GAMP 5 principles.
  • Author and review requirements, design documentation, test scripts, protocols, and SOPs.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable GxP requirements, ALCOA+ principles, data integrity expectations, and 21 CFR Part 11.
  • Support internal audits, inspections, and regulatory inquiries.

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience supporting Laboratory Information Management Systems in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or regulated laboratory environment.
  • 3+ years of hands-on LabVantage administration experience.
  • Experience designing and implementing LabVantage LES worksheets.
  • Experience supporting LabVantage SDMS functionality.
  • Experience supporting file-based data exchange architectures.
  • Understanding of laboratory operations supporting Quality Control testing.
  • Working knowledge of GMP regulations, data integrity requirements, and computerized system validation.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

The salary range below reflects the full-time base salary range we expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. Base pay will be determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, education, scope of job, internal comparisons, and market data.

Beam Pay Range

$140,000-$185,000 USD
