The Investment Strategy Group is seeking a Senior Investment Strategist with demonstrated experience leading original investment research and thought leadership that influences multi-asset investment decisions and helps shape perspectives on equity markets. The strategist will originate and lead research that integrates economic developments, capital market insights, and investment judgment to develop forward-looking market views and actionable portfolio implications.
Working collaboratively across Vanguard's multi-asset investment ecosystem, the strategist will help strengthen the connection between market outlooks and investment implementation by translating research insights into practical applications for portfolios and investment strategies. The position is part of a global research team responsible for developing capital market perspectives, delivering asset return forecasts, providing portfolio and investment strategy insights, and communicating investment views to stakeholders worldwide. The ideal candidate will bring a strong record of research leadership, recognized expertise in one or more asset classes, a demonstrated ability to translate original insights into real-world investment decisions, and graduate-level training in a relevant field.
In this role you'll:
Perform complex quantitative and qualitative analysis across macroeconomics, capital markets, and portfolio construction.
Prepare high-impact research analysis and reports, investment commentaries, presentations, and market outlooks for internal and external stakeholders.
Closely monitor asset class coverage and lead original research initiatives to inform a wide array of internal and external stakeholders of relevant investment perspectives with ease.
Contribute to creating a holistic multi-asset investment outlook for Vanguard by integrating risk assessment (economic and others), market cycle awareness (shorter-term), and secular themes (medium-term).
Represent multi-asset investment outlook in client meetings, conferences, media engagements, and internal forums, clearly communicating the implications for investors and portfolios.
Provide guidance and mentorship to investment analysts and researchers on research design, market analysis, investment strategy, and communication of investment implications.
Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
What it takes:
Master’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of training and experience. Ph.D.-level training, CFA designation, or portfolio management/construction experience is a plus.
8+ years related work experience, conducting research in relevant settings such as buy-side investment firms, sell-side research, CIO office, and endowment funds.
Multi-asset fluency and established subject matter expertise on an asset class (e.g. equity, credit, FX, etc.)
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex economic and investment ideas to investment professionals and clients.
Demonstrated ability to apply original research and learnings from literature to real-world settings (i.e., investment decisions)
This role is based in our Malvern, PA office and operates under Vanguard's hybrid work model, which includes required onsite attendance. Relocation support is available for the successful candidate; however, full-time remote work is not an option for this position.
