Overview

The Senior Investment Planning Analyst supports RealPage's enterprise process for prioritizing Product and R&D investments. The role partners with Business Unit, Product, Finance, and Strategy leaders to evaluate investment requests, validate underlying data and assumptions, and maintain a reliable consolidated planning model. This position develops scenario analyses, provides business case assessment, executive-ready reporting, and recommendations that help leadership understand investment tradeoffs, allocation patterns, and expected business impact. Success requires expert Excel capability, strong business judgment, analytical rigor, and the ability to drive a complex cross-functional process without direct authority. 

Responsibilities

Support the end-to-end investment planning process:

• Coordinate and track key planning activities, milestones, deliverables, review cycles, and deadlines.
• Maintain the investment planning calendar, communicate requirements and timing to Business Units, monitor progress, follow up on outstanding actions, and escalate risks that may affect timely process completion.

Coordinate investment data collection:

• Manage the recurring collection of investment planning data from Business Units using standardized templates, established definitions, submission requirements, and planning deadlines.
• Review Business Unit submissions for completeness, internal consistency, appropriate classification, and supportable assumptions; identify gaps and work with stakeholders to strengthen the quality of the business case.
• Reconcile submitted investment data with available capacity, financial information, project records, and other internal sources; research discrepancies and drive timely correction or documented resolution.
• Consolidate validated submissions into the enterprise investment planning model while maintaining consistent definitions, assumptions, calculations, reporting periods.
• Evaluate the investment cases in coordination with Product Management and Finance teams, analyze and refine business case submissions resulting in incremental R&D requests, including alignment to larger RealPage strategic initiatives, revenue and profitability impacts to the business unit, and incremental resourcing needs in order to assess relative prioritization against other investment requests.
• Own the day-to-day integrity and usability of the Excel-based planning model by auditing formulas, links, references, inputs, duplicate records, and model performance and by escalating material issues.
• Produce recurring analytics and executive-ready PowerPoint materials, including preparation of foundational analyses of investment levels and scenarios across Business Units that compare investment options, illuminate tradeoffs, and support leadership decisions regarding prioritization and resource allocation.

Prepare reporting and investment profile updates:

• Develop recurring summaries, schedules, reconciliations, charts, and management-ready materials that communicate investments usage status, outstanding issues, data-quality findings, and investment trends.
• Build effective working relationships with Strategy, Product, Finance, and Business Unit stakeholders; communicate requirements clearly, facilitate issue resolution, and constructively challenge unsupported assumptions.
• Strengthen the investment planning process through clear documentation, standardized templates, practical controls, and responsible use of approved automation, AI-enabled tools, and business-intelligence capabilities. 

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Analytics, or a related field.
• Five or more years of relevant experience in strategic finance, FP&A, corporate strategy, investment planning, business analytics, or a related analytical role or 2-3 years in management or strategy consulting.
• Demonstrated experience building and maintaining complex financial or operational models and translating analysis into practical business recommendations.
• Experience coordinating cross-functional work with multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and firm planning deadlines.

Preferred:

• Two or more years of management, strategy, or financial consulting experience.
• Experience supporting Product or R&D investment planning in a technology, software, SaaS, or similarly complex multi-business environment.
• Experience with Power BI, Power Query, planning systems, or other data-visualization and automation tools.
• Experience using approved AI-enabled tools to improve analysis, modeling, research, or reporting.

Required:

• Expert Microsoft Excel skills, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, lookups, scenario and sensitivity analysis, data validation, model auditing, and management of complex multi-source workbooks.
• Strong financial and business acumen, with the judgment to evaluate assumptions, connect investment choices to business outcomes, and distinguish material issues from routine variance.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving capability, including data reconciliation, trend analysis, root-cause investigation, and interpretation of incomplete or inconsistent information.
• Ability to synthesize complex analysis into clear conclusions, recommendations, and executive-ready PowerPoint presentations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to ask probing questions, constructively challenge assumptions, and influence without direct authority.
• High attention to detail and commitment to data integrity, documentation, confidentiality, and repeatable process controls.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, operate effectively in ambiguity, meet deadlines, and maintain momentum across a recurring enterprise planning cycle.
• Ability to responsibly use approved AI and automation tools while applying independent judgment and protecting confidential company information.

 Compensation may vary depending on your location, qualifications including job-related education, training, experience, licensure, and certification, that could result at a level outside of these ranges. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus, and sales incentives depending on the terms of the applicable plan and role as well as individual performance.
