Mars Retail- Sr Inventory Control Specialist -Hackettstown, NJ
  • Hiring Manager: Sarah Ramos


Required Shift:

Rotating Day and Afternoon shifts:
  • Day Shift 6a - 2:30p; Afternoon shift 11a-7:30p.
  • 8-12 hours (pending demand)
  • Peak Season overtime is required including weekends


Description of Role:

The position is responsible for the receipt and issue of raw materials, packaging materials, and consumables. The physical movement of materials and corresponding transactions within the ERP systems are the core responsibilities of the role.

What are we looking for?

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must have line manager approval
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in inventory, supply chain or manufacturing
  • Must be forklift certified
  • Proficient in MS Office and email


Physical Requirements:
  • Can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying (10-50 lbs) and pushing/pulling (50-300 lbs)
  • Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, handling, and gripping.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights, climb stairs, lean over equipment, and operate in confined spaces.
  • Ability to stand and work on feet for extended periods, with shifts lasting 12 hours
  • Capable of working in hot, cold and wet conditions
  • Proficient in understanding, communicating, reading, and writing in English.


Preferred Requirements:
  • Technical degree to certifications
  • Demonstrated proficiency in shop floor execution systems such as SAP Fusion
  • Ability to leverage data and analytics to make informed decisions, including effective use of desktop analytics tools (e.g. Excel and PowerPoint)


What will be the key responsibilities?
  • Responsible for conducting inventory transactions and maintaining inventory integrity at the production facility.
  • Monitor and minimize waste and floor scrap.
  • Sustain appropriate material WIP level at each unit operations for efficient production.
  • Maintain and optimize material storage plan.
  • Makes recommendations on flexed inventory levels with seasonal demand.
  • Provides first level of escalation for all material issues.
  • Responsible for ensuring continuity in their area, that they have adequate back-up to maintain business operations.
  • Works closely with Hackettstown plant on ordering, prioritizing, and receiving all bulk candy.
  • Manages replenishment of bulk candy inventory.
  • KAPPA trained for candy quality standards (acceptance criteria)
  • Completes all RSS testing and reporting including the MRS (Micro release system) quality release system.
  • Collaborates with production and replenishment on all aspects of inventory including shortages, outages, large order solutions, deadlines, and damaged inventory.
  • Inspects all incoming material for quality and product conformance.
  • Moves all inventory to ensure that orders are dropped in a timely manner.
  • Provide enthusiastic support where needed and complete other duties as assigned.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is between the range listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position will include variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.

The pay range shown is applicable to all US locations listed within the job posting:USD 33.85 - USD 46.54
