SeniorHydraulic Modeler with strong technical leadership and project delivery experience to join our Resilience Water Team!

This position will utilize professional experience and technical knowledge of hydraulics, water distribution master planning, and computer modeling, combined with data analytics as part of our local project teams developing innovative solutions throughout the nation. Role accountabilities:This role will leverage strong leadership skills and technical expertise to support project teams in the development of water distribution system models and comprehensive water system master plans. The successful candidate will perform a range of engineering activities related to water distribution hydraulics, including pumping evaluations, flow test studies, water quality investigations, system planning, and the development of hydraulic and water quality models, as well as feasibility studies. Key responsibilities include leading distribution system analyses through the development, calibration, and application of hydraulic models; applying data analytics and GIS tools to support project execution; and serving as a senior technical resource to provide modeling-based insights for existing and proposed system improvements. The role also involves leading the preparation, review, and quality assurance of technical reports, memoranda, and master planning deliverables to ensure high-quality, client-ready outputs.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Lead client coordination and presentations, communicate technical findings to diverse stakeholders, and support trusted advisor relationships with clients.
- Support or lead scope development, fee estimation, and technical approach definition for proposals and pursuits.
- Facilitate coordination for timely completion and submission of project deliverables.
- Maintain and increase professional and technical knowledge by having regular participation with industry Association's, attending workshops, making presentations, and reviewing professional publications.
- Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and quality oversight to junior engineers and modelers. Manage or support multiple concurrent projects, including task delivery, coordination, budget awareness, and schedule adherence.
- Ensures project compliance with all Arcadis' practices and quality and safety standards.
Some travel may be required for project site visits, client meetings, and other reasons depending on project staffing needs.
Required Qualifications - 8+ years of experience in hydraulic modeling, water system planning, or related engineering work.
- Bachelor's in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related Engineering field of study and a PE license
Key Skills/AttributesWe are seeking a candidate with strong hydraulic modeling and engineering experience to support evaluations, investigations, planning efforts, feasibility studies, and modeling of water systems. Proficiency with Autodesk InfoWater Pro and/or Bentley WaterGEMS is preferred, along with GIS experience using ArcGIS Pro. The ideal candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively present to stakeholders, collaborate with team members, and engage with clients. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is expected, as is active participation in regional and/or national professional associations. Candidates should demonstrate a proven track record in hydraulic modeling and master planning projects for water utilities, along with experience reviewing technical work and providing guidance to junior staff. Strong client communication and stakeholder facilitation skills are essential, as is experience developing scopes of work, budgets, and technical approaches for proposals and project modifications. The ability to independently apply sound engineering judgment to complex technical challenges is critical for success in this role
Preferred Qualifications - MS in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field of study.
- Hydraulic modeling & engineering experience for evaluations, investigations, planning, feasibility studies and modeling of water distribution systems. Additional experience with wastewater collection system modeling and experience with water quality modeling, pump station evaluation, storage analysis, or transient evaluations
- Previous experience with an engineering consulting firm, municipality, or other closely related work and serving as a task lead or project manager on water system planning or modeling projects
- Other related modeling software experience (e.g. InfoWorks, Hammer, AquaTwin, etc.). Programming using Python or equivalent languages.

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $88,000 - $130,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
