What You'll Do:

Summary Description of Position

Serve as a business partner to operations and sales management to enhance the Western Division's (California) capability to achieve its goals and objectives for Northern/Central California, (up to 10 locations) with coverage from Los Banos, Madera, Sanger to Fresno. This position has full generalist responsibilities with an emphasis on employee and labor relations. The role is supported administratively through the regional office Human Resources. Provides support for the effective execution of business initiatives, corporate and divisional policies, human resources processes and projects, and employment laws.

Essential Functions

Advises and consults with regional leadership, managers and supervisors to identify obstacles and issues to improve organization effectiveness, and develops strategies to remove those obstacles and concerns. Position works with managers on ways to improve their effectiveness through a variety of techniques and strategies.
  • Position is mostly a field based role, with a majority of the role being performed in and around up to 10 locations in Central California.
  • Participates as a member of the Division's leadership team and leadership team planning initiatives.
  • Influences and helps lead change as required by new company and division initiatives.
  • Partners with regional leadership, plant managers on preventing but also solving employee relations opportunities and challenges.
  • Assists with new acquisitions and growth initiatives as they relate to human resources and organization issues.
  • Partners with hiring managers throughout the interview process, participating in candidate interviews to provide objective HR-driven feedback while coaching managers on interview best practices, compliance, and effective evaluation techniques.
  • Identifies issues and concerns to address employee satisfactions and develops strategies and interventions to increase employee satisfaction throughout the Division.
  • Reviews and recommends strategies and new concepts to reward and recognize performance of teams and people within the Division.
  • Supports managers in developing succession planning strategies and improving the talent pool throughout the Division. Identifies back-up candidates to key positions in the Division and serves as corporate contact on internal candidates in the Division.
  • Identifies new technologies and "best practices" to enable the Division to reduce costs and improve productivity through better utilization of human assets and resources.
  • Represents the Division on assigned Company-wide project teams.
  • Effectively utilizes prevailing technologies (e.g. UKG, Oracle, Peoplesoft, etc.) to execute assigned responsibilities more effectively.
  • Manages collective bargaining agreement administration, including contract interpretation, grievance processing, and dispute resolution, with HR Manager and Labor Relations Manager collaboration and support.
  • Conducts regular labor relations training for management and supervisors to ensure consistent application of company policies and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Serves as a point of contact for union representatives, fostering professional and collaborative labor-management relationships.
  • Supports labor contract negotiations through data gathering, preparation of proposals, and participation in bargaining sessions.


Other Requirements
  • Estimated travel requirement is 75 to 80%. Mostly day travel with overnight stays being very limited.
  • A successful candidate will be a team oriented individual that demonstrates a "humble but
    hungry" approach in how they approach all facets of their responsibilities. Open to constant change and a strong ability to adapt.

Skills You'll Need:

Education. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration or related field or equivalent work experience is desired. Advanced degree is an advantage. SPHR or equivalent professional certifications preferred

Experience. Position requires a minimum of 5 years experience in a Human Resources or Organization Development career track. Two plus years of experience in labor contract negotiations and contract administration/grievance handling is required. Experience in an industrial environment is preferred. Working knowledge of heavy industrial business is an advantage.

Knowledge of Best Practices. General knowledge of EEO, FLSA, OFCCP laws and regulations. Understanding of employment laws, rules and regulations. Knowledge and understanding of employee relations.

Integrity and Decision-Making. Unquestioned personal and professional integrity.

Leadership and Management Skills. Able to establish credibility and influence leadership.

Interpersonal Skills. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and interact well with all levels of personnel. Oral and written communication skills to include effective listening.

Technology Skills. Must have the ability to use computerized equipment and technology. Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google, Oracle Business Environment, and other software packages relevant to the position.

Salary Range: the base salary range for this role is between $90,000 to $110,000 annual salary. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate's compensation, we consider a number of factors, including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
