Job Description

The position of Senior Healthcare Architect is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
  • Leads architectural design on complex healthcare projects including hospitals, ambulatory care facilities, and medical office buildings
  • Plans, develops, schedules, coordinates, and conducts phases of architectural work on moderate to large-scale projects
  • Executes components of large projects or manages multiple projects with complex features
  • Manages project scope, budgets, schedules, and overall performance
  • Develops and oversees design concepts, space programming, and planning strategies
  • Leads preparation and review of drawings, specifications, and construction documents
  • Ensures compliance with applicable codes and standards including FGI, NFPA, ADA, and local/state regulations
  • Coordinates with multidisciplinary teams to deliver fully integrated design solutions
  • Acts as a discipline lead on multidisciplinary projects and supports overall project coordination
  • Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of architects, designers, CAD technicians, and consultants
  • Provides mentorship, leadership, and technical guidance to intermediate and junior staff
  • Conducts quality control (QA/QC) reviews to ensure technical accuracy and consistency
  • Provides technical support during construction, including site visits, RFIs, submittals, and issue resolution
  • Supports business development through technical input, proposal development, and client interaction
  • Maintains strong client relationships and contributes to project success and repeat business
  • Works with minimal supervision; assignments are provided with broad objectives and limits
  • Demonstrates ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables across concurrent projects
  • Participates in team meetings, client presentations, and project reviews as required

Job Requirements

  • Licensed Architect (RA) required (State of Michigan or ability to obtain)
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or related field
  • 10+ years of experience, with a strong focus on healthcare architecture
  • Demonstrated experience working in a consulting architecture/engineering environment
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team delivering integrated design solutions
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare planning, codes, and regulatory requirements
  • Proficiency in Revit/BIM and related design tools
  • Demonstrated planning, organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and related programs


Preferred Experience
  • Experience with Michigan healthcare systems or academic medical centers
  • Familiarity with state approvals and healthcare compliance processes
  • Experience working on active or occupied healthcare facilities
