Senior Global Commodity Manager - Key Technologies

The Senior Global Commodity Manager - Key Technologies is responsible for managing developing and executing the global sourcing and category strategies for the Key Technologies commodity across Beckman Coulter Diagnostics, spend responsibility for this role is approximately $170m per year. This role drives cost, quality, service, innovation, sustainability, risk management and supply chain continuity outcomes by partnering cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, R&D, Planning, and Supplier Quality to optimize the end-to-end Key Technologies supplier base in support of business growth and operational excellence.

This position is part of the Global Strategic Procurement team. You will be working fully remotely to ensure a resilient, competitive, and compliant global Key Technologies supply base that supports product availability worldwide.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Strategic Category Leadership: Develop, define, and execute global category strategies for Key Technologies to maximize savings, on time delivery, quality and risk management.
  • Supplier Management & Negotiation Excellence
    Evaluate suppliers, lead competitive events (RFIs/RFPs/auctions), negotiate agreements, drive preferred-supplier adoption, and manage supplier performance to meet Beckman Coulters needs.
  • Advanced Analytical & Business Skills: Develop spend analysis, market intelligence, project repository maintenance, financial analysis, budget/price guidance, track /report savings against annual objectives.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership & Influence: Lead without direct authority-guiding other functions and collaborating strongly with our R&D / NPI / VAVE teams to provide strategic direction on supplier selection.
  • Continuous Improvement & DBS (Lean) Mindset: Adopt and use structured continuous-improvement tools (e.g., Lean, Kaizen, DBS) to improve cost, quality, delivery, inventory, cash, across Beckman Coulter.


The essential requirements of the job include:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree, MBA or master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Materials Science, Industrial Distribution Degree, Supply Chain Management degree (with a technical focus or specialization) or a related technical field.
  • Experience: 12+ years of technical procurement/sourcing experience in Key Technologies', and Key Technology Category sub tier category management such as Pumps, Valves, Motors, Optical Displays, PC and Memory Storage devices, digital machine interfaces and displays.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of current and emerging technologies relevant to AI/ML, advanced analytics, robotics, automation, biotechnology, data science
  • Supplier & Sourcing Leadership:
    Demonstrated expertise in negotiations, contract management, and sourcing events such as RFI/RFP, spend benchmarking, E Tools such as E Auction with ability to evaluate suppliers on technical capability, quality, and total cost using TCO modelling. Being highly collaborative with such functions as New Product Introduction, R&D, Supplier Development and Quality to build roadmaps and Sourcing Strategies for the key technology Category and Subcategories.


Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
  • Travel Requirements: Ability to travel up to 20%, including domestic and international trips as business needs require.


It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
  • Global sourcing within the computer sciences, motion control or similar high technology industries, medical device manufacture, medical diagnostics equipment
  • Working collaboratively across large organizations, including spend pooling, joint operating company negotiations, collaboration on risk mitigation strategies, technology sharing and best practices
  • Internal Projects working with R&D, NPI and Legal teams experience in working with these teams to protect our IP and what matters most to our business.

The annual salary range for this role is $165K - 180K. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
