Step Into Your New Role

 

Our Boston grouup is hiring a Senior Geotechnical Engineer.  As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will be working on a wide range of challenging projects to support our Geotechnical Engineering team in our New England Area.

 

This role is available in Boston, MA office.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Direct junior staff to perform field activities including geotechnical drilling, laboratory testing and construction observations with subcontractors. 
  • Coordinate geotechnical tasks and manage mediumto large size geotechnical projects.
  • Review construction submittals and daily field reports.
  • Perform geotechnical engineering analyses and prepare geotechnical reports for the design and construction of shallow and deep foundations.
  • Review work of and mentor junior staff.
  • Prepare contract specifications and drawings.
  • Interrelate with external clients and subcontractors. 
  • We are looking for someone with the ability to provide quality technical support on municipal, commercial, transportation, energy and water projects. Experience on design/build projects is also preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills are required in areas including:
    • Geotechnical engineering evaluations including:
    • Earth retention systems design,
    • Shallow and deep foundation design,
    • Ground improvement techniques
    • Earthquake engineering,
  • Experience with drilling oversight andsoil and rock classification,
  • Experience with construction oversight
    • Subgrade observations, observation of backfill and compaction, deep foundation installation, etc.
  • HDD or Tunnel Design experience is a plus but not required  

 

Education & Experience:

 

  • 6 to 10 years of related experience.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) 
  • Must have a positive work attitude and ability to work safely and efficiently when managing multiple tasksand junior staff
  • Ability to work independently or with a team in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The successful candidate will have the ability and willingness to travel and perform field work, even under inclement weather and physically demanding conditions.
  • Position will require the candidate to adhere to work assignments/schedules, be self-motivated, organized and have a keen sense of detail.
  • Candidate must be willing to work in addition to a standard 40-hour work week when needed.

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the Massachusetts Wage Transparency Act.  Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Salary range: $91,000 - $120,000.
