Description We are seeking a Senior Geospatial Consultant to provide leadership in GIS analyses, system implementations, and business process improvement. This role will lead geospatial consulting engagements focused on enterprise GIS modernization, Utility Network implementations, data migration strategies, and operational transformation initiatives. In addition to supporting today's Utility Network programs, this individual will help clients evaluate and adopt emerging geospatial technologies that create long-term business value.
The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing technical leadership, strategic guidance, and innovative solutions that improve how organizations manage infrastructure, assets, and geospatial information. This individual will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, support business development efforts, mentor staff, and help expand the firm's geospatial consulting capabilities across utility and infrastructure markets.
What You'll Do - Lead and review Geographic Information System (GIS) analyses and data development for client projects.
- Provide technical leadership for GIS system implementations, configurations, and integrations.
- Develop technical specifications, project approaches, cost estimates, and schedules for project deliverables.
- Lead enterprise geospatial modernization initiatives including Utility Network implementations, migration programs, platform transformations, and adoption of emerging geospatial technologies.
- Review geospatial studies and analyses for accuracy; present findings to stakeholders.
- Develop strategic recommendations that help clients maximize the value of geospatial systems, data, and emerging technologies.
- Oversee quality reviews of team deliverables to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Advise clients on geospatial strategy, operational transformation, and technology roadmaps that improve asset management, decision-making, and business performance.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to meet project objectives.
- Train, coach, and mentor staff on GIS best practices and solutions.
- Support proposal development, business development, and client engagement efforts.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, quality practices, and safety policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Experience & Skills Candidates may not possess every experience or skill listed below, but experience in several of these areas will help position them for success in this role.
- Experience leading or supporting Esri Utility Network (UN) implementations, migrations, and modernization programs.
- Experience designing, configuring, and implementing Utility Network data models, network rules, and migration approaches for utility clients.
- Strong understanding of utility business processes and asset data models, particularly within the water, wastewater, electric, gas, or telecommunications industries.
- Experience developing migration strategies from legacy GIS platforms, geometric networks, or custom data models to Utility Network architectures.
- Knowledge of utility GIS data governance, network modeling, data quality management, and system integration best practices.
- Experience working directly with utility clients to define business requirements, develop implementation roadmaps, and deliver enterprise geospatial solutions.
- Proficiency with Esri technologies including ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, web applications, mobile solutions, and cloud-based GIS platforms.
- Experience integrating GIS with operational and enterprise systems such as asset management, work management, customer information, outage management, SCADA, or ERP platforms.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical business solutions and communicate effectively with both technical and executive stakeholders.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and mentoring GIS professionals through large-scale technology transformation initiatives.
- Demonstrated success supporting business development efforts, including proposal development, scope definition, cost estimating, and client relationship management.
- Experience leveraging automation, analytics, scripting, AI-enabled workflows, digital twins, or emerging geospatial technologies to improve business outcomes.
- Experience evaluating, developing, or implementing next-generation geospatial capabilities such as real-time analytics, digital twins, AI-enabled workflows, cloud-native GIS platforms, or enterprise data integration strategies.
- Curiosity and adaptability to stay ahead of evolving geospatial industry trends and help clients prepare for what's next beyond Utility Network implementations.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in GIS, business, computer science, engineering or related field from an accredited program and 7 years of relevant experience required.
- Or associate's degree and 9 years of relevant experience required.
- Or High School Diploma/GED and 11 years of relevant experience required.
- Excellent GIS skills, including data analysis abilities.
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
- Ability to independently solve difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.

- Ability to perform under pressure and tight deadlines and to be effective in on-site work environments.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, including identification of critical path items to ensure deliverable deadlines are met.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PPT).
