We are currently looking for a
Senior Full Stack Software Engineer for a
100% remote position on a large federal government project. In this role, you will support the design, development, and delivery of secure, scalable, and mission-critical healthcare applications that support federal modernization initiatives. You will work within a collaborative Agile environment alongside software engineers, architects, business analysts, QA engineers, DevOps professionals, and product teams while leveraging modern technologies including Java, Spring Boot, Node.js/TypeScript, React, AWS, and AI-enabled solutions.
The candidate must reside within the continental US.Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain scalable full-stack applications using Java, Java EE, Java 17, Spring Boot, Node.js/TypeScript, and React or Angular.
- Architect and implement secure, cloud-native, event-driven microservices and RESTful APIs utilizing AWS services including Aurora PostgreSQL, ECS, SQS, and S3.
- Develop AI-enabled solutions by integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI APIs into enterprise healthcare applications while evaluating emerging AI technologies and best practices.
- Build reliable backend services, optimize database performance, and ensure application scalability, security, and maintainability through sound engineering principles.
- Implement automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and DevOps best practices to deliver high-quality software in a regulated environment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions while supporting Agile development processes and maintaining technical documentation.
- Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives and ensure the success of the project.
Requirements- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of six (6) years of professional software engineering experience.
- Proven experience as a Full Stack Software Engineer with technical leadership responsibilities.
- Experience designing and developing distributed, cloud-native applications using modern software architecture principles.
- Experience integrating AI or Large Language Model (LLM) capabilities into enterprise applications.
- Experience working within Agile software development environments.
- Strong proficiency with Java, Java EE, Java 17, and Spring Framework.
- Experience developing applications using Node.js, TypeScript, React, or Angular.
- Experience building RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, including Aurora PostgreSQL, ECS, SQS, and S3.
- Experience with SQL, PostgreSQL, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of secure software development practices and modern DevOps methodologies.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to mentor software engineers and provide technical leadership.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a remote environment.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Additional Qualifications- Experience supporting Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) programs or other federal government agencies.
- Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards such as FHIR and HL7.
- Experience working within regulated healthcare environments.
- Experience with intelligent automation, AI orchestration frameworks, or agent-based systems.
- Professional certifications in AWS, Java, Agile, or related technologies are preferred.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Public Trust or other required security clearance.
