Senior Forward Deployed Application Engineer

Position Description:

CGI Federal is seeking a Senior Forward Deployed Application Engineer to lead client facing delivery of applications and integrations supporting critical operations. This is a software engineering role that requires strong technical leadership and the ability to deliver across a range of tools and platforms. Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform is a plus for supporting existing workflows; the primary focus is building maintainable, secure, integrated solutions.

This position is located in Arlington, VA.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Lead design and implementation of application capabilities, integrations, and supporting services.
Establish engineering standards, perform code reviews, and mentor developers.
Design integration patterns across APIs, databases, messaging/eventing where applicable, and enterprise systems.
Drive delivery of data movement/transformation and automation patterns (tooling varies by project).
Provide oversight/support for existing low code solutions as needed (Power Platform used in some areas), including stability, performance, and minor enhancements.
Troubleshoot complex production issues; lead root cause analysis and remediation.
Partner with stakeholders to translate needs into technical designs and incremental delivery plans.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

4-8 years of professional experience in software engineering (applications and integrations).
Strong proficiency in one or more: Python, Java, C#/.NET, JavaScript/TypeScript.
Strong experience with API design/integration and advanced SQL; solid data modeling fundamentals.
Demonstrated technical leadership (design ownership, mentoring, estimation, code reviews).
Strong communication skills and ability to operate in a client facing delivery role.
Exposure to low code platforms (Power Platform preferred) or willingness to learn enough to support existing solutions.

Desired qualifications/non essential skills required:
Experience with data platforms/engineering (Spark/Databricks, Delta concepts, orchestration patterns) a plus.
Experience with Palantir Foundry (pipelines/ontology/workflows) a plus.
Cloud services used for integration (Azure Functions/Logic Apps/API Management or equivalents).
DevOps/CI/CD, automated testing strategy, observability fundamentals.
Relevant certifications (cloud, Power Platform) a plus.

Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $89,600.00 $218,200.00.
