Full Job Description
Job Description

In this position...

The Human-Centered Design (HCD) Team is responsible for end-to-end vehicle experiences, focusing on the seamless integration of physical features and the digital ecosystems that support them. We are seeking a creative Experience Designer who specializes in the "real world" interaction-designing how a user engages with a physical vehicle. This is not a UI/UX digital design role. We are looking for a designer who can envision and craft simple, thoughtful, and compelling physical-led experiences for our customers.

This position demands demonstrable expertise in creating industry-leading experiences, grounded in robust research insights and an understanding of future trends. You will be responsible for creating experience design principles, journey mapping, and experience road mapping. Crucially, you will use your strong graphic design and storytelling skills to translate complex human needs into visual narratives that inspire stakeholders and define the future of mobility.

Responsibilities

What you'll do...
  • Experience Definition Support: Contribute to defining experience opportunities by understanding user needs and business goals, specifically focusing on the intersection of the vehicle and the user.
  • Design Research Participation: Participate actively in design research activities, applying various methodologies to gather insights from physical interactions.
  • Insight Translation & Visual Storytelling: Translate customer and user insights into tangible design concepts. Use high-fidelity graphic design and narrative techniques to create compelling design briefs and experience visions.
  • Rapid Prototyping: Create quick, iterative prototypes-ranging from low-fidelity physical mock-ups and digital wireframes to test and validate design concepts in a physical context.
  • Experience Requirements Documentation: Assist in defining comprehensive experience requirements, documenting key enablers, user needs, and system requirements for both physical and digital touchpoints.
  • Product Concept & Ideation Support: Support the application of brand-based experience content strategies through product concepting and design ideation, ensuring the "feel" of the physical product aligns with the brand.
  • Program Collaboration: Collaborate with program teams to ensure the consistent application of brand-based experiences and help ensure they are delivered within the constraints of the program.

Qualifications

You'll have...
  • Degree in Design Methods, User Experience Design, Interaction Design, Industrial Design, Anthropology, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in experience design, with focus on the conception, user validation, and delivery of physical products as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience contributing to the strategy, design, development, or launch of B2B or B2C facing products or services.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and visual presentation skills.

Even better, you may have...
  • Master's degree in Design Methods, User Experience Design, Interaction Design, Industrial Design, Anthropology, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in experience/service design, with focus on the conception, user validation, and product development.
  • Experience with design research (user), concepting, ideation, and iterative prototyping.
  • Familiarity in human-centered design methods and processes including opportunity identification from insights, research evaluation techniques, framing challenges, iterative workflows; and proficiency with journey mapping and service blueprinting. (Proficiency with relevant design and prototyping tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Sketch, etc.)
  • Experience facilitating in or assisting with workshops to develop design solutions (feasibility / viability).
  • Awareness of relevant technologies, trends, and techniques in design.
  • Understanding of automotive industry, design practices and general product development processes.

  • Vehicle discount program for employees and family members and management leases
