This Opportunity

Are you ready to play a leading role in shaping the next generation of energy infrastructure across Texas and Louisiana? WSP is seeking a strategic, client-focused Senior Environmental Project Manager - Team Lead to oversee and grow a team of environmental professionals supporting power and energy projects. This is a high-impact leadership role with responsibility for people management, team development, and workload planning, in addition to leading complex, high-visibility projects. The successful candidate will set technical direction, mentor and develop staff, and play an active role in expanding WSP's environmental services capabilities in the region.

In this role, you will bring expertise in siting and routing, environmental impact assessment, and project permitting, along with the leadership and collaboration skills needed to guide multidisciplinary teams and build trusted client relationships. You will also bring a strong understanding of the Texas/Louisiana energy market and the ability to help clients navigate complex regulatory, environmental, and stakeholder challenges.

As our regional workload continues to grow, you will join WSP's interdisciplinary Energy team focused on siting and routing, state permitting, and impact assessments across the social, natural, and physical environment. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals on some of the region's most important energy projects and may be based in Austin, TX; Houston, TX; San Antonio, TX; Fort Worth/Dallas, TX; Corpus Christi, TX; or Baton Rouge, LA.
Your Impact
  • Team Leadership - Provide direct leadership to a team of environmental professionals, including workload planning, staff development, mentoring, performance feedback, and support for career growth. Foster an inclusive, high-performing team culture focused on technical excellence, collaboration, and client service.
  • Project Leadership - Lead multidisciplinary teams on complex energy projects, driving delivery that is timely, high quality, and aligned with scope, budget, and client expectations.
  • Siting and Routing Leadership - Direct site selection and route evaluation for transmission, distribution, and generation facilities, helping clients make informed, strategic decisions.
  • Permitting and Compliance - Lead environmental permitting efforts, application development, agency coordination, public meetings, and stakeholder engagement across complex projects.
  • Regulatory Strategy - Partner with local, state, and federal agencies and provide strategic guidance on filing requirements, regulatory pathways, and project approvals. Experience with expert witness testimony is a strong plus.
  • Market Insight - Stay ahead of policy developments, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies shaping the Texas/Louisiana and the broader south-central U.S. energy markets and use that insight to support client success.
  • Trusted Partnership - Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, regulators, landowners, and internal teams, helping navigate complex environmental, permitting, and stakeholder issues.
  • Business Growth - Lead proposal development, scope definition, budgets, schedules, and client relationship expansion to support continued growth in the region, including strategic hiring, staff utilization, and succession planning.
  • Operational Excellence - Champion innovation, continuous improvement, and best practices that strengthen team capability, consistency, and project delivery performance across the region.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Engineering, Environmental Science, Project Management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of experience managing environmental projects in the energy sector, including transmission, generation, renewables, or pipelines.
  • Experience serving as a team lead, practice lead, or functional lead within an environmental, engineering, or consulting organization.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and collaborate effectively across all levels of an organization.
  • Demonstrated success developing winning proposals, delivering compelling presentations, and supporting client growth.
  • Demonstrated expertise in siting and routing, permitting, impact assessments, and regulatory compliance in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, or Mississippi.
  • Experience preparing and managing Public Utility Commission/Public Service Commission applications, including expert testimony.
