Summary

Lead environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives that help protect our people, our operations, and the communities we serve. As a Senior Environmental Manager, you will provide strategic leadership for environmental compliance across assigned facilities, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations while partnering with operations and cross-functional teams to drive safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible practices. You will oversee environmental permitting, regulatory reporting, compliance programs, training, monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives while providing technical expertise that supports operational excellence and minimizes environmental risk. This role is ideal for a strategic, results-driven leader who excels at building partnerships, influencing change, and fostering a culture of environmental stewardship in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The salary range for this position is $114,000 - $170,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications with annual bonus available (variable depending on performance).

Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure day-to-day production activities are conducted in accordance with environmental requirements established by permits and local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Supervise and manage associates, including hiring, training, and development, to ensure environmental requirements and corporate sustainability goals are met.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and consistent reports to internal and external customers.
  • Attend and conduct regular communication meetings.
  • Maintain positive community, public, and regulatory relations.
  • Provide a safe work environment for all associates by eliminating unsafe acts and conditions and adhering to all company safety policies, including PPE, LOTO, and Process Safety Management requirements.
  • Present and explain permit requirements to responsible signatory officials on a regular basis.
  • Provide timely notification of activities, spill releases, and non-compliance events.
  • Conduct environmental audits, inspections, and emergency response activities as needed.


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Biological Science, or a related field.
  • 8 years of related work experience.
  • Possess strong organizational skills and effective remote and in-person verbal and written communication skills.
  • Meet the requirements of the Company Safety Handbook.
  • Possess knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and the ability to perform environmental calculations.
  • Ability to travel to remote facilities and/or offices for meetings.
  • Ability to learn and utilize new software applications for environmental recordkeeping and state/federal environmental reporting.


Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management, Environmental Health, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, or another natural science discipline.
  • Visual opacity certification or the ability to successfully complete opacity training within 6 months of hire.


Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors

  • Work in a position that is primarily sedentary but requires movement between offices and buildings.
  • Move freely throughout Perdue facilities, including climbing heights from 0 to 150 feet and carrying tools and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Communicate via telephone and operate standard office equipment.
  • Work in environments that may include wet or moist floors, metal grating, cement surfaces, and outdoor conditions.
  • Be exposed to temperatures ranging from 0 degrees Fahrenheit to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, including ambient and 100% humidity conditions.
  • Be exposed to noise levels ranging from 50 dB to 110 dB.
  • Be exposed to workplace chemicals for which Safety Data Sheets are available.
  • Wear and use all protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
