This Opportunity

WSP is initiating a search for a Sr. Environmental Engineer located in our Jacksonville, FL - Baymeadows Road office. This is an opportunity to be involved in projects with WSP's Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges. The Engineer will provide technical assistance for the development of environmental due diligence, environmental site assessment and/or monitoring, and environmental remediation projects. Technical tasks may include assisting with development and implementation of site assessment work plans and remedial action plans; directing field activities through subcontractor procurement and real-time communication with field staff; and evaluation of environmental conditions. The Engineer will also contribute to the development of concise and accurate technical reports including conclusions and recommendations.

Your Impact
  • Manage environmental assessment activities, including identifying and compiling of data from a variety of sample matrices (soil, soil gas, sediment, surface water, and/or groundwater) and contaminant types (volatile organic substances, metals, pesticides, per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances).
  • Design soil and groundwater remediation plans using a variety of technologies, including soil excavation, soil vapor extraction, and enhanced bioremediation.
  • Oversee and monitor local and/or remote teams in executing project work, including tracking project budgets, labor hours, expenses, and subcontractor costs.
  • Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, models, cross-sections, and other illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of complex data, findings, or analyses.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports that describe methodologies, analytical results, conclusions, and recommendations to address environmental findings.
  • Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, and technical staff in a confident and professional manner.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Engineering or closely related engineering discipline.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant post-education experience in environmental engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience in the evaluation and design of modified active gas sampling and soil vapor extraction systems, including pre-design field surveys, and implementation oversight.
  • Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientated attitude, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Project management experience and capability to successfully execute project work within budget and schedule for small to medium sized projects (typically <$200K).
  • Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies, including site specific Health and Safety Plans

Preferred Qualifications
  • Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain one within first year of employment.
  • Experience working with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection Waste Cleanup Program - Waste Site Cleanup Section. Experience with the Waste Site Cleanup Section - Drycleaning Solvent Cleanup Program is particularly preferred.
  • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER), Basic First Aid, and Adult CPR training.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may occasionally extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Rare travel may be required depending on project- or business-specific requirements.
