Overview

BigBear.ai is seeking a Senior Enterprise Solutions Architect to join our Information Services team, based out of Hill AFB, Utah and have an important role in supporting our mission of Strategic Deterrence through continual improvement and innovation.

The successful candidate will provide leadership to a team of Developers/Engineers on a technology-based program supporting a key government customer on the Sentinel Integration Support Contract (ISC) program; A major U.S. Air Force initiative to maintain current LGM-30 Minuteman III missiles and help transition to the new LGM-35A Sentinel intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) system.

This program will deliver engineering services for sophisticated enterprise computing infrastructure including end-point devices, cloud services as well as virtualized applications, and storage systems. Enterprise Computing Engineering services include modern application technology including containerized solutions with orchestrated workflow that function in the Cloud. This is a fast paced, challenging, and career rewarding experience to recruit and develop, provide top talent and solutions on one of the most complex and high-profile programs within the government customer community.

What you will do

  • Spearhead the identification of business and technical challenges within the organization, developing advanced technical solutions to be implemented by the IT department across various IT teams and disciplines.
  • Lead the architectural design of next-generation platforms, ensuring scalability, modularity, and resilience.
  • Define integration patterns and APIs that enable seamless interoperability between platform services and third-party systems.
  • Play a key role in advising on and implementing solutions that adhere to the highest standards of cybersecurity and operational efficiency.
  • Give expert advice on IT best practices, including cybersecurity, system architecture, and cloud management strategies.
  • Conduct architecture reviews, identify technical risks, and propose mitigation strategies to IT administrators and senior leadership
  • Guide the adoption of emerging technologies such as event-driven architectures, serverless computing, AI-driven automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and Configuration as Code (CaC)
  • Integrate existing on-premises networks with hybrid cloud-based infrastructures, enhancing operational efficiency and scalability. Lead significant data migration projects, ensuring secure and efficient transfer of critical program data to new systems.

What you need to have

  • High School Diploma and 12+ years of related IT or Program Management experience
  • BS/MS Eng., Computer Science, Software, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent experience in applicable domain
  • 14 yrs (12 yrs with MS degree) of progressive experience in systems integration and analysis of military hardware and software systems/processes (or commercial equivalent). 10 years' experience in system design, integration, and analytical efforts

What we'd like you to have

  • Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, Puppet, Chef and DevOps practices
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering concepts
  • Experience supporting large-scale deployments as an administrator
  • Experience with technical project management
  • Previous success in developing standards, process improvement, and managing processes
  • Working technical knowledge of network, storage, server, and database technologies
  • Proficient ability to review, analyze, document, and explain technical systems and data
  • Knowledge of migrating/extending on-premises software to the cloud
  • Knowledge of AWS Cloud Platform (IaaS) is preferred
  • SQL (read/interpret tables and columns)
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Superb customer service skills
  • Fast, aggressive learner
  • AWS Cloud Certification is preferred
  • Microsoft/Oracle Certifications preferred
