Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Enterprise Architect located at Hanscom AFB in Bedford, MA providing support to the Aerospace Management Division (ESA).
The Aerospace Management Systems Division programs develops delivers, and sustains air traffic management and landing systems, CNS/ATM avionics expertise, and weather sensing/forecast capabilities enabling military and civil customers to achieve their mission.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Education: Master’s or Doctorate Degree in a related field and ten years of experience, five years of which must be in the DoD
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and 12 years of experience, five of which must be in the DoD
- 15 years of directly related experience with proper certifications as described in the PWS labor category performance requirements, eight of which must be in the DoD
- Clearance: Must have an ACTIVE Secret Clearance
RESPONSIBILITIES
The candidate will provide Enterprise Architect support that will perform work involving the analysis, planning, design, implementation, documentation, assessment, and management of the enterprise structural framework to align IT strategy, plans, and systems with the mission, goals, structure, and processes of the organization.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Develops reference models of the enterprise and maintaining the information in the IT repository
- Determines the gaps between the current and the target architecture and recommending plans for transitioning to target architecture
- Recommending the policies and principles to guide technology decisions for the enterprise architecture
- Identifies opportunities to improve enterprise-level systems to support business processes and utilize emerging technologies
- Promotes and educates customers and stakeholders on the use and value of the enterprise architecture
- Provides enterprise architecture guidance, support, and coordination to customers and IT project teams
- Documents the enterprise architecture infrastructure, including the business units and key processes, using modeling techniques
- Ensures technical integration is achieved across the enterprise by participating in test planning, validation, and reviews
- Evaluates the impact of enterprise architecture products and services on IT investments, business operations, stakeholder satisfaction, and other outcomes
- Coordinates and conducts governance and portfolio management activities associated with ensuring compliance with the enterprise architecture; and/or ensuring the rigorous application of information security/ cybersecurity policies, principles, and practices to all components of the enterprise architecture
- Supports implementation and execution of agile software execution in concert with Government and Prime contractors
- Supports and advises on development of service oriented architectures for software development
- Provides support for software architecture and design, development and evaluation of standards and services required to promote the requirements defined by and developed through user centered design
- Advises software architecture, enterprise activities and working groups, which include but are not limited to; Meta-Data Management Team, DCGS Enterprise Technical Working Group, DCGS Operation Technical Working Group, DCGS Knowledge Management Team, Operational Users Focus Team and Test and Evaluation Focus Team
- Supports documentation development and review, briefings, training material development, implementation, integration and fielding of products and support to technical interchanges via teleconference or in person
- Provides recommendations in making software design choices
- Engages in the design of the architecture of the platform/hardware environment where software will be deployed
- Provides solutions and assistant to the Common Data Fabric effort in support of Government personnel
- Interfaces with theuser(s) andsponsor(s) and all otherstakeholdersin order todeterminetheir (evolving) needs
- Performscostbenefit analyses, as requested,todeterminewhether requirements are best met by manual, software, orhardwarefunctions; making maximum use ofcommercial off-the-shelfor already developedcomponents
- Performsan interfacing function, on behalf of the Governmentengineers, with the design and implementation engineers and architects, so that any problems arising during design or implementation can be resolvedIAWthe fundamental design concepts,and user needs and constraints
- Ensuresthat a maximallyrobustdesign isdevelopment
- Assistsin generating a set ofacceptance testrequirements, together with the designers,test engineers, and the user, whichdeterminethatall ofthe high-level requirements have been met, especially for thecomputer-human-interface
- Assistsin ensuring that all architectural products and products with architectural input aremaintainedin the most currentstate and never allowed to become obsolete
- Provides systems engineering and support technical evaluations and analysis and documentdevelopmentand review
- Providesrecommendationsregardingthe establishmentand compositionofservices and capabilities
- Providesrecommendations to align theenterprisearchitectureproduct(s) developmentwith industry and Governmenttechnology best practices,standardsand specifications
- Providesengineering support to continually assess impacts of new standards onenterprisesoftware design and implementation
- Conductstechnical exchange sessions supportingenterprisearchitecture and design including technical exchanges withenterprisecommunity stakeholders
- Conductsuser site visits, telecons, and other direct and indirect support for tasks as directed
- Ensuresthatarchitecture andstandards developmentactivities support implementable products and functionality
- Translatesemerging and accepted architecture standards intobacklog use case descriptions and support understanding of new requirements as part of theagile developmentprocess including but not limited to test driven development, continuous integration/continuous deploymentpipeline
- Experience working directly with modern software applications, products, and intel tools
- Problem solve and troubleshoot various situations to develop successful outcomes within established program/project guidelines
