Description:

The Senior Engineering Designer is a factory specific engineering staff position. The SED role is a trade
specific design, modeling, and documentation position with a focus on structure, mechanical and HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and/or fire protection. This structure-focused role involves cross-functional
collaboration with the other design and engineering team members to ensure project, manufacturing, and code requirements are met. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with office standards and project requirements. This role also involves collaboration with various senior team members across the larger organization to optimize project delivery and execution.
Responsibilities:
  • Work as an integrated design and engineering team with the Project Designers and Project Architects (PD | PA, SPD | SPAs) to ensure faithful and profitable execution of VBC Projects under direction of Senior Engineering Associate (SEA) and in collaboration with designated manufacturing and construction teams.
  • Utilize BIM software to accurately model structural components to translate structural engineering documentation into manufacturing executable files and documentation including but not limited to walls, floors, ceilings, roofs etc.
  • Coordinate and manage schedule of deliverables for assigned projects while conforming with documented office standards (including engineering BOM deliverables) reporting progress and flagging delays if and when they occur.
  • Advise and review structural technical deliverables from engineering sub-consultants for conformity with documented office standards while maintaining project specific requirements.
  • Document structural deviations from VBC product and construction standards for larger team visibility.
  • Maintain structural BIM files to ensure conformity with office standards.
  • Generate and record responses to internal and external customer RFIs, revisions, comments, and requests in a professional, timely, and courteous manner.
  • Assist other Senior D+E Studio Staff in proposing alternate means and methods and code interpretations for review with Chief Design Officer, manufacturing, construction, consultant teams and external code bodies as required.
  • Propose revisions and improvements to BIM manuals, procedures, Revit template updates and other items as required for incorporation into office modeling and documentation standards.
  • Support the creation of design, engineering, and manufacturing standards with structural detail development for continuous improvement and training.
  • Support with DfMA cross training for design and engineering staff.
  • Mentor and train junior structural engineering team member.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum associate's degree or certificate in design, engineering, or building information modeling
  • Engineering, Architecture, and | or Construction experience required
  • 6-8 Years of experience required
  • Experience in component design for modular construction (pre-fabrication experience) is required
  • Vertex BD proficiency required; AutoCAD and Revit proficiency preferred
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency required
  • Bluebeam Revu proficiency preferred
  • Must have foundational knowledge of North American wood framing standards
  • Must have a positive attitude and be able to function as part of a diverse team
  • Must be detail-oriented and organized
  • Must have the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Must be an independent problem-solver and appreciate a fast-paced work environment

Additional Information

The Salary Range for this position is $105,000 - $125,000 annual base salary + annual performance bonus. We also off the following benefits:
