Job Description SummarySenior Engineer to support Outage Engineering for GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy’s (GVH) customers. Develop and deliver Outage Servicing Tools and Equipment that are used during maintenance, inspection, refueling and outages in both Boiling Water Reactors (BWR) and Pressurized Water Reactors (PWR) at domestic and international Nuclear Plants. The Senior Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, analysis and testing of new products and technology to meet customer needs and overcome complex technical challenges.
Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities
As a Senior Engineer you will:
- Execute the design, development and analysis for specialty tooling and equipment using sound engineering principles and adhering to engineering standards, practices, procedures, and product requirements.
- Develop Outage Servicing Tooling and Equipment of high complexity.
- Demonstrate solid knowledge of Mechanical Design principles including expertise in areas such as; mechanical design, mechanical component design, structural design, welding, joint connections, and fabrication techniques.
- Proactively communicate and deliver assignments on time.
- Identify and mitigate technical risk.
- Communicate technical details to fabricators through the generation of fabrication drawings, specifications, and direct communication.
- Generate operational instructions for newly developed tools and equipment.
- Contribute to the success of others by providing feedback and technical input during design reviews and verifications.
- Provide mentorship to peers.
- Provide emergent issue response to Field Services teams and Customers as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university
- At least 8 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering and/or machine design experience
Eligibility Requirements
- The work location for this role is at the GVH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC
- Ability to obtain commercial nuclear site entry.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally to other GE Vernova locations, vendors, and customer sites as necessary.
- This role is restricted to U.S. persons(i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3))due to access to U.S. export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of U.S. person status prior to employment.
Desired Characteristics
- Proficient in 3D CAD design and computer skills.
- Experience in the development of equipment within the nuclear services sector, particularly with regards to services provided during a maintenance outage at BWRs and PWRs
- Familiarity with the following codes and standards: AISC, AWS, ASME BPVC, ASTM
- Solid understanding of the principles of Mechanical/Structural Design and Engineering
- Ability to troubleshoot improperly functioning equipment and implement the proper changes.
- Ability to assess technical risk and devise suitable means to mitigate.
- Familiarity with LEAN tools and principles.

Additional Information
For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $113,200.00 and $188,800.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidates experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
