Full Job Description

Position Summary

The LSS Engineer owns the technical design, field installation, commissioning, and operational compliance of critical life safety infrastructure for Samsung’s advanced semiconductor manufacturing facility in Taylor, Texas. This position specifically drives the engineering execution, systems integration, and technical sign-off for emergency safety showers/eyewash stations and Toxic Gas Monitoring Systems (TGMS) across the Fab, Sub-Fab, Cleanroom, and Central Utility Building (CUB) spaces. Working closely with design firms, equipment vendors, and construction trade partners, the engineer ensures all monitoring matrixes, continuous gas detection networks, and emergency wash units meet stringent SEMI standards (S2/S8/S22), NFPA codes, OSHA mandates, and Samsung internal engineering standards. Core duties include reviewing Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), specifying sensor technology (electrochemical, optic, infrared), defining alarm matrix logic, and overseeing high-risk field installations.

Additionally, the LSS Engineer leads rigorous testing, validation, and commissioning procedures to guarantee flawless real-time hazard detection and automated mitigation. The engineer executes Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) for TGMS controllers and safety shower monitoring nodes, validating emergency interlocks, life safety shutdown (LSSD) triggers, automatic valve closures, and direct telemetry to the emergency control center. Beyond initial startup, the role establishes calibration intervals, sensor replacement lifecycles, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for routine maintenance and troubleshooting. By collaborating with process engineering, facility operations, and EHS teams, the LSS Engineer ensures robust system reliability, complete regulatory compliance, and maximum personnel protection during high-volume manufacturing ramp-up.
