Senior Engineer I, Application role, you will provide technical designs, engineering expertise, and application development support for digital systems and associated infrastructure. You will develop conceptual and detailed application designs, support equipment selection, establish technical strategies, and contribute to standards, testing methodologies, and best practices. As a technical contributor, you will communicate technical results and solutions to internal stakeholders and customers while troubleshooting complex system issues in both laboratory and field environments. You will also provide technical mentoring and guidance to less experienced engineers while supporting the successful execution of customer projects.
Key Responsibilities:Digital Systems Design and Engineering - Develop conceptual and detailed application designs for digital systems, communications infrastructure, industrial networks, system architecture, automation platforms, and monitoring solutions.
- Provide technical expertise for the design, specification, implementation, testing, commissioning, and operation of digital systems supporting industrial customer applications.
- Establish technical strategies, engineering standards, equipment selections, design methodologies, and best practices for assigned projects.
- Develop engineering deliverables including architecture drawings, network diagrams, functional specifications, system design documentation, and testing procedures.
- Perform system integration activities involving Schneider Electric technologies and third-party digital platforms, software, and communications systems.
- Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting activities.
- Identify technical risks and develop mitigation plans to support successful project execution.
- Provide technical-commercial input and support project teams, proposals, and customer solution development activities.
Technical Leadership and Customer Support - Communicate technical results, issues, recommendations, and solutions to customers, project teams, and engineering leadership.
- Troubleshoot complex product, application, and system issues in laboratory and customer site environments.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and support development of engineering capabilities within the organization.
- Review engineering work products for quality, accuracy, compliance, and adherence to applicable standards.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineering teams, service personnel, and customer stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to digital system engineering processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Maintain awareness of emerging technologies, industry trends, and cybersecurity requirements relevant to digital systems.
Travel: Ability to travel up to 20% as required to support project execution and customer needs.
Success in this Role:The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise in digital systems design while consistently delivering high-quality engineering solutions that support customer project objectives. Success will be measured through effective application design, technical problem solving, customer satisfaction, project execution support, and the ability to mentor less experienced engineers. The individual will contribute to the advancement of digital systems capabilities, improve operational reliability, and support the successful deployment of innovative technologies across a broad range of customer applications.
What qualifications will make you successful for this role?- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in digital systems engineering, industrial automation, telecommunications, industrial networking, cybersecurity, or related engineering disciplines.
- Experience designing, implementing, and supporting industrial digital systems and communications infrastructures.
- Knowledge of industrial networking technologies, communication protocols, system integration, and data management architectures.
- Ability to develop engineering documentation, specifications, testing procedures, and technical reports.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with customers and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to less experienced engineers.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience with Schneider Electric automation technologies, including Foxboro DCS, Triconex Safety Systems, EcoStruxure platforms, and Modicon PLCs.
- Experience executing projects within the Oil & Gas, Chemicals, LNG, Refining, Energy, or Industrial sectors.
- Knowledge of project execution methodologies, engineering resource planning, and financial management principles.

For this U.S. based position, the expected pay range is USD 101,600 - USD 152,400 per year. This pay range includes base pay and short-term incentives. The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our pay ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the pay range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
