Full Job Description
Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a SeniorEngineer, Fire Protection with experience with design engineering in the pipeline and terminals business, chemicals industry, other process industry, or with an engineering firm serving these industries to join our growing team!

Role Summary:

Responsible for corporate oversight/support of the fire protection program. Will serve as the SME and oversee the compliance implementation of programs with respect to NFPA codes/standards, OSHA, multiple local & state AJH's, and API Industry Best Practices addressing fire protection and response. This position will work closely with local operations, project management and emergency response to build a compliance and risk management mindset that supports the company vision

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include:
  • Leadership ability to develop a vision and subsequent strategy for the companies Fire Protection improvement needs and efforts and be able to communicate those needs and strategy with executive leadership.
  • Communication of present situation, organizational needs, associated risk and improvement plans and mentor all impacted levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of Fire protection engineering and code consulting efforts; you will be responsible as engineer of record for many projects in the Eastern region.
  • Performing analysis of existing fire protection systems, as well as designing new fire protection systems including suppression systems, fire detection, alarm and mass notification systems
  • Consulting for life safety, building, and fire code compliance.
  • Developing thorough and clear Design Analysis, Summary of Code Requirements and Life Safety Plans, and accurate Reports.
  • Planning and design details including engineering concepts, distribution plans, riser diagrams, detail drawings, schedules, specifications, design analysis, engineering reports, etc.
  • Observations and reviews of on-site project; duties required to fulfill contractual obligations for construction phase services; overseeing other personnel assigned to this responsibility.
  • Managing day-to-day contacts with internal and external clients while utilizing experience and technology to meet expectations
  • Support interactions with risk insurers during audits, assessments and corrective action planning
  • Experience in designing fire sprinkler, suppression, and fire alarm systems layouts utilizing hydraulic calculation programs, and knowledge of NFPA Codes, API Best Practices and International Building and Fire Codes is required.
  • And other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, or related engineering fields is preferred.
  • Fire Protection Engineering PE registration is preferred.
  • 20-35% travel may be required.
  • Approximately 8+ years of technical experience in a technical fire protection design or consulting role involving fire protection systems.


Certificates & Licenses:
  • Professional Engineer license or the ability to get licensed is a plus
