Full Job Description
Eversource supports work-life balance by offering hybrid schedules for certain roles. Eligibility is based on job responsibilities, operational needs, nature of work and team dynamics. Current guidelines require employees to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day set by the employee and supervisor based on department needs. These guidelines apply to roles approved for remote work and are subject to change, based on managerial discretion and work performance. All applicants must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed (for example: emergencies, training, or other business needs) or should the policy change. Individual will plan, coordinate, and perform engineering assignments (design and implementation) in support of distribution automation telecommunication systems for Eversource 1. Role and Scope of Position: Individual will plan, coordinate, and perform engineering assignments (design and implementation) in support of distribution automation telecommunication systems for Eversource. Individual is responsible for ensuring that the company's wireless data communications networks are optimally configured to support SCADA data applications within the operating areas at Eversource. Individual will collaborate with other senior staff members to ensure that the right mix of data communications protocols, technologies, products and services are selected to optimally meet the requirements of an assigned project. Individual will collaborate with Field Communications to troubleshoot and build the distribution automation communications network at Eversource. Individual will technically contribute to a team of technical telecommunications engineering staff to plan, engineer, design, and support the company's wireless data telecommunications system. 2. Essential Functions:  Individual will plan, coordinate, and perform engineering assignments (design and implementation) in support of wireless data telecommunication systems for Eversource.  Assigned to projects to design, implement and operate the wireless SCADA data telecommunication systems to support Eversource's Electric operations.  Provide support for field construction and maintenance of wireless SCADA data telecommunication assets/infrastructure including digital microwave, mobile and fixed wireless networks, paging systems and subsystems.  Perform data analysis of wireless SCADA data communication systems in support of continued enhancement and troubleshooting of SCADA data applications.  Contribute to the configuration and specification of SCADA data wireless telecom equipment / hardware and its interface to field RTU devices.  Troubleshoot events on the distribution system where a field device communication is identified to have mis-operated or impacted remote operations.  Applies a good understanding of, and compliance with, requirements and standards set forth by industry organizations and regulatory bodies such as IEEE, IEC, NERC etc.  Exhibits a "can-do" attitude to successfully work through issues and/or changes in priorities and work processes. Responds positively to new demands or circumstances. 3. Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications: Technical Knowledge/Skill:  General understanding of the design, specification, and installation of wireless SCADA data telecommunications systems over various media, such as radio, cellular and fiber.  Basic understanding of SCADA engineering concepts, in particular DNP 3.0 protocol.  Strong communication and presentation skills.  Strong ability to coordinate with a team to design and build out a project. Education:  Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or related discipline. Experience:  At least five (5) years of experience in the design, implementation and support of wireless SCADA data telecommunications systems.  Experience with the application of wireless SCADA data telecommunications infrastructure within a utility application using DNP 3.0 protocol is preferred.  Understanding of electric utility systems is strongly preferred. 4. Working Conditions:  Must be available to work emergency storm assignment as required.  Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.  Travel throughout the service territory is required 20% of the time, which involves working in an industrial environment including climbing ladders, walking on uneven surfaces and exposure to outdoor elements. The other 80% of work is performed in an office environment which requires standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, and writing and typing. Selected candidate will have a storm response role defined and will be expected to support restoration activity. 5. The annual salary range for this position is: $129,450.00-$143,830.00 Worker Type: Regular Number of Openings: 1 Emergency Response: Responding to emergency situations to meet customers' needs is part of every employee's role. If employed, you will be given an Emergency Restoration assignment. This means you may be called to assist during an emergency outside of your normal responsibilities, work hours and location.
