Position Description

Group 76, Software and Electronics Engineering, is seeking a Senior Electronics Engineer to work on mixed-signal, analog, digital, RF, or power electronics systems. Activities may include electronics design, analysis, implementation, and integration & test of hardware/software systems in a laboratory setting. The successful candidate will be able to contribute to multi-disciplinary teams executing advanced research and independently solve technical challenges. Occasional travel to support field exercises, presentations to sponsors and the community, and other events may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields (A master's degree and 3-5 years of relevant experience will be considered)
  • Experience with the design of mixed-signal, analog, digital, RF, or power circuits
  • Experience with the full development lifecycle of PCBs from requirements through testing and integration
  • Experience using test equipment such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, waveform generators, spectrum analyzers, and logic analyzers
  • Test design, procedure development, and execution in a laboratory or manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with circuit simulation tools such as PSpice, SimScape
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a dynamic, interdisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to coherently convey complex technical details to both technical and non-technical audiences


3 or more of the following

  • Background in high reliability systems e.g. space systems, flight, defense systems, nuclear energy, automotive, healthcare, or similar
  • Experience with PCB design/layout
  • Familiarity with radiation, screening and derating requirements for high-reliability, space-rated EE components
  • Ability to perform Worst-Case Circuit or Derating Analyses for electronic design, rapid troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
  • Experience leading small teams of technical contributors


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with FPGA firmware development using VHDL, Verilog, or System Verilog to model, design, simulate, test, and implement FPGA-based systems
  • Experience developing real-time embedded software in C++ using VxWorks (or similar)
  • Working knowledge of Matlab, Python, Ruby or similar languages to develop tools and utilities to support hardware design and test efforts
  • Experience developing low level drivers
  • Experience with revision control systems such as git
  • Experience with program management and demonstrated oral and written communications skills are essential

80% onsite expectation

Recent Graduate Hiring Range: $145,200 - $170,000

Experienced Hiring Range: $145,200 - $220,000
