Location: Jacksonville, FL

Primary Purpose:

The Senior Electrical Estimator requires deep expertise in new construction electrical projects. This individual will lead the estimating process from initial drawing review through final proposal submission. They have strong knowledge of electrical systems, labor and material pricing, and maintain strong relationships within the electrical and general contractor community. Expected to have an entrepreneurial, startup mindset who enjoys building systems, improving processes, and helping grow a construction business.

Job Responsibilities: Percentage of time: 100%

Estimating & Preconstruction
  • Review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and project documents for new construction projects.
  • Perform complete electrical takeoffs including power distribution, lighting, low voltage, fire alarm, and specialty systems.
  • Develop accurate labor and material estimates based on project scope, productivity factors, and market conditions.
  • Price electrical scope using supplier quotes, subcontractor bids, and internal cost databases.
  • Prepare detailed project budgets, bid summaries, and proposals.
  • Identify scope gaps, conflicts, and value engineering opportunities.

Vendor & Contractor Coordination
  • Maintain and leverage relationships with electrical suppliers, subcontractors, and general contractors.
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and project walkthroughs when required.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to validate estimate assumptions.

Strategic & Operational Contributions
  • Assist leadership with bid strategy and project selection.
  • Help develop and improve estimating systems, templates, and cost databases.
  • Provide insight into market pricing trends and labor conditions.
  • Support project handoff to operations after successful bid awards.

Startup / Growth Mindset
  • Contribute ideas to improve estimating efficiency, workflows, and technology adoption.
  • Help build scalable estimating processes as the company grows.

Experience and Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of direct electrical estimating experience, primarily in new construction projects.
  • Minimum qualification: Journeyman Electrician license. Master Electrician license preferred.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Deep knowledge of:
    • Electrical materials
    • Labor units and productivity
    • Electrical systems and installation methods
  • Proven experience estimating commercial projects.
  • Strong network within electrical contractors, suppliers, and general contractors.
  • Proficiency with estimating tools such as:
    • Accubid
    • ConEst
    • Bluebeam
    • PlanSwift
    • Excel or similar software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience estimating large-scale commercial construction projects.
  • Familiarity with design-build projects.
  • Experience working in a growing or startup construction company.
  • Ability to help develop estimating standards, pricing databases, and internal workflows.

Frequent contact with individuals outside the office including vendors and customers.

Work Schedule:

Office operating hours are 8AM - 5PM.
