Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer, MPDE Posting Start Date: 8/25/26 Job Description: Job Overview The Opportunity Join TE Connectivity's innovative Digital Data Networks organization as a Senior Electrical Engineer and help develop the next generation of advanced optical connectivity systems powering AI, cloud computing, and hyperscale data center infrastructure. You'll solve complex electrical engineering challenges involving automation, controls, high-speed electronics, and manufacturing technologies to enable the world's most demanding optical interconnect applications. Please note: operations are currently based at a temporary site in Webster, NY. The team will transition to a permanent Rochester location (near RIT) upon completion. Job Requirements Electrical Systems Design & Development • Automation & Controls Design: Design, develop, and deploy electrical control systems for automated manufacturing equipment, robotic cells, vision systems, motion control platforms, and precision assembly processes. • Test Equipment Development: Design and implement electrical test systems, instrumentation, data acquisition architectures, and validation platforms for optical connector manufacturing and product qualification. • Hardware Integration: Specify, integrate, and validate electrical components including PLCs, servomotors, sensors, vision systems, power distribution systems, HMIs, and industrial communication networks. • Controls Programming: Develop and support PLC, motion control, and machine interface software to enable reliable, repeatable, and scalable manufacturing operations. Product Development & Manufacturing • Prototype Development: Lead the design and commissioning of prototype automation and test systems from concept through production deployment. • Verification & Validation: Develop comprehensive electrical test methodologies, failure analysis techniques, and system validation protocols to ensure performance, reliability, and manufacturability. • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner closely with mechanical, optical, manufacturing, quality, and process development engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet product and production requirements. • Documentation: Develop electrical schematics, control panel drawings, BOMs, test procedures, work instructions, SOPs, validation protocols, and technical documentation supporting equipment and product development activities. What your background should look like Education: BS or higher in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or related technical field. • Experience: 5-8 years of experience designing electrical systems, automation equipment, control systems, or manufacturing technologies. • Automation Expertise: Hands-on experience with industrial automation platforms, motion control systems, sensors, machine vision, robotics, or precision manufacturing equipment. • Design Tools: Proficiency with electrical and controls enigneering design software Core Technical Competencies • Controls Engineering: Strong understanding of PLC architectures, motion control systems, industrial networking, instrumentation, and machine automation principles. • Electrical System Design: Experience designing low-voltage control systems, power distribution, safety circuits, and industrial electrical equipment. • Test & Measurement: Knowledge of data acquisition systems, instrumentation, signal conditioning, and electrical validation methods. • Manufacturing Technologies: Understanding of automated production systems, process controls, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies. • System Integration: Ability to troubleshoot and integrate hardware, software, controls, and manufacturing systems into reliable production solutions.
