Full Job Description
BETA is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in South Burlington, Vermont. This position will support a variety of projects in electrical engineering domains including high-voltage to low-voltage power conversion, PCBA design, low voltage power distribution, instrumentation/monitoring, schematic capture, and more. Primary responsibilities will include the development of circuit boards from conceptualization to production and completion of the associated certification processes and requirements verification. This position will also support system-level design and verification testing.

How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders Identifying project goals, budget, and scope
  • Develop system architectures and distill hardware components into subassemblies, circuits, and board designs
  • Ability to design new products across multiple dimensions including: cost, reliability, efficiency, and features
  • Develop from the low-level circuit design to full-scale, integrated system design and see those systems all the way though to volume manufacturing and field deployment
  • Troubleshoot and rework electrical equipment and printed circuit boards
  • Develop test and verification plans for your product designs

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and 4 years of experience in electrical engineering in a product design and/or production setting
  • Proven experience with analog and power component selection, circuit design, simulation, and test
  • Current working expertise using Altium for schematic design, PCBA design and layout, and manufacturing
  • Excellent documentation skills for schematics, bill of materials, test plans, and data
  • Working knowledge of communications protocols including CAN, SPI, I2C, MODBUS, TCP/IP, RS-485
  • DFMEA/FMEA analysis and hardware safety testing
  • Ability to read, interpret, and design according to safety or general standards
  • Experience with bringing your product up to compliance via 3rd parties such as UL, CE, or others

Above and Beyond Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of power conversion design for HV DC systems
  • Working knowledge of electric vehicle charging standards including J1772, ISO 15118, DIN 760121, ISO 61851
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering
  • >5 years of industry experience in electrical design for electric vehicle interfaces and charging systems
  • Experience designing and testing for EMI mitigation and EMC
  • Strong communication skills, being a proactive team player, comfortable defining your own tasks and strong foundation of problem-solving skills

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • The successful candidate will work on site at Beta Technologies in South Burlington, VT in both the production and R&D spaces to design and test working prototype PCBAs.

Compensation

$110,000-$145,000 USD
