Senior Electrical Engineer | Denver, CO

IMEG is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer in Denver, CO, to lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for moderate to complex projects and help deliver larger, high-complexity work with limited support from senior staff. You’ll work closely with a team of engineers and consultants to provide project direction, engineering solutions, and advice to clients—driving positive outcomes through project management, engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of building electrical systems. You’ll also support budget alignment, training and mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration to meet project goals and client expectations.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Lead design efforts for the analysis of building electrical systems for moderate to complex projects
  • Develop detailed electrical designs, specifications, and calculations per code requirements and IMEG standards using engineering software and tools
  • Perform site assessments and produce detailed analysis and technical reports
  • Partner with clients to gather requirements, communicate technical information, and maintain strong working relationships
  • Provide in-process design reviews (design, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence) and apply IMEG quality control processes
  • Provide technical assistance to help resolve field issues with limited support from senior staff
  • Train, mentor, and motivate staff to support performance and development
  • Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies; contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG
  • Prioritize safety in all engineering work; identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with electrical systems
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals
  • Participate in project interviews and project presentations

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
  • Adept in the technical aspects of one’s discipline; advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems
  • Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
  • Advanced proficiency of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS; Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
  • Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others
  • Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
  • Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
  • Strong training and mentoring skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays

  • Design power distribution, lighting, and specialty electrical systems for buildings and infrastructure
  • Support projects ranging from medium-voltage campus power systems to interior electrical layouts, including emergency power, UPS, and renewable energy integration

  • Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver code-compliant, integrated, high-performance outcomes

State of Colorado Salary Range: $98,000 - $141,000
Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
