Summary

The Senior EHS Manager provides strategic leadership for EHS programs across the Ag Retail, Distribution and Transportation division. This role leads Regional EHS Managers and a broad organization of EHS professionals across multiple states, partners closely with operations to embed EHS into business strategy and capital initiatives, and serves as a key liaison with regulatory agencies. Based in Inver Grove Heights, MN, this hybrid role requires three days onsite per week with flexibility to work remotely two days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and organizational direction for Regional EHS Managers and business unit EHS professionals across the division. Build a high-performing EHS leadership bench through intentional talent development, succession planning, mentoring, and performance management. Drive alignment of individual goals and priorities with divisional and enterprise EHS strategy.
  • Own the divisional EHS management system and governance framework, ensuring written programs, training, and procedures are risk-based, scalable, and aligned with regulatory requirements, CHS standards, and business needs. Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance effectiveness, consistency, and site adoption.
  • Partner with Vice Presidents of Operations and Regional EHS Managers to shape divisional EHS strategy, prioritize capital investments, and integrate EHS objectives into operational planning, growth initiatives, and business transformations.
  • Evaluate and evolve the divisional EHS scorecard by analyzing business unit performance, identifying systemic risks and gaps, and providing strategic recommendations to strengthen the overall EHS program and culture.
  • Lead a risk-based audit and assurance strategy, including EHS audits, inspections, root cause analysis, and corrective action development. Use audit outcomes to influence enterprise priorities, resource allocation, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Provide strategic oversight and accountability for audit, loss control, and inspection responses, ensuring Regional EHS Managers effectively implement corrective actions and verify long-term risk reduction.
  • Serve as a strategic liaison for regulatory agencies and external stakeholders, guiding EHS team members through regulatory interactions, responses, and negotiations to protect the organization and reinforce compliance credibility.


Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5+ years experience in Environmental, Health and Safety
  • Prior leadership experience with progressively advancing level of leadership responsibilities

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health, Environmental Health and Safety, or related field, preferred

Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
