EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY OPEN TO THE PUBLIC WITH PREFERENCE TO TH CITIZENS Competition #: 2026-08-002 Senior Economic Development Advisor - Term Department: Governance & Executive Operations Location: Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in Offices - Dawson, YT Posting Date: August 7, 2026 Standard Hours Bi-Weekly: 75 Start Date: Immediately End Date: Two (2) years from start date Salary: Level 10 Step 1 ($4,633.50 bi-weekly) Closing Date 4:00pm (YST): August 20, 2026 Reporting to the Director of Resource Development and Strategic Initiatives, the Senior Economic Development Advisor is responsible for supporting economic and community development initiatives relating to Chapter 22 of the TH Final Agreement, in part through supporting the TH Government's arms-length Community Economic Development Corporation. The incumbent also supports economic and business development associated with agreements with mining proponents. The incumbent establishes/administers policy and research opportunities within TH's Traditional Territory in support of citizen participation in community and economic development opportunities. The incumbent advocates on behalf of the TH Government and citizen-owned businesses, and updates and maintains a TH business database. The incumbent identifies training and other professional development opportunities and conducts other research relating to business and community development matters. The incumbent liaises with other TH entities involved in economic and business development and provides support to the Director and Executive Director in fostering positive and collaborative working relationships with these entities. An Eligibility List may be established from this competition - the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.   • Post-secondary degree in business administration, economic development, planning or related field (or equivalent).
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of demonstrated experience working in community or economic development. Experience working with a Yukon First Nation is considered an asset.
  • Completion of post graduate coursework and/or attainment of an economic development designation is considered an asset.
  • Experience with fiscal management, including budget development and resource management, procurement practices and contract oversight.
  • Experience in developing and implementing policies, processes and procedures.
  • Experience in a management role leading, motivating and supervising staff.
  • Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite including, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio and ability to moderate videoconference meetings.
  • General knowledge of Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in Land Claims Agreements, Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in Constitution and TH Government legislation.
Assets:
  • Knowledge of and experience with project management, business planning, cost-benefit analyses, risk management frameworks or organizational assessments are considered assets.
  • Experience in developing workplans, reports and briefings for senior management is an asset.
  • Ability to use and adapt change management principles to support organizational change.
  • Strong leadership, consensus-building, supervisory and coaching skills.
