OverviewSenior Network Administrator

The Senior Network Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of the organization's enterprise network infrastructure. This role ensures the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the network systems that support core organizational functions. The Senior Network Administrator leads efforts in planning network architecture, troubleshooting complex network issues, implementing security protocols, and optimizing performance across local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs).
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, secure enterprise network solutions.
- Manage advanced routing protocols (EIGRP, BGP, OSPF) and ensure optimal network traffic flow.
- Build and maintain cloud-integrated networks (AWS, Azure, GCP); support hybrid deployments.
- Deploy and administer SD-WAN solutions to improve flexibility and connectivity across distributed environments.
- Apply DISA STIGs and DoD security guidelines to protect network infrastructure.
- Use tools like SolarWinds and SD-WAN controllers to track performance and resolve bottlenecks.
- Create and maintain detailed network diagrams, configurations, and technical documentation.
- Provide Tier 3-level technical support for complex networking issues.
- Guide junior engineers and support team capability development.
- Evaluate new technologies and manage vendor relationships for hardware/software acquisitions.
- Occasional CONUS/OCONUS travel may be required for project support.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science, IT, or related field OR
- Associate’s with 5+ years of experience + CCNA
- 5+ years of Enterprise Network Engineering experience.
- DoD IAT Level II (e.g., Security+ CE).
- TS/SCI with the ability to obtain CI Poly.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Deep understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, VLANs, and VPN technologies.
- Knowledge of firewall policies, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), access control, and endpoint protection.
- Expertise with Cisco, Palo Alto, Arista, and other enterprise-grade networking equipment.
- Experience with tools like SolarWinds, Wireshark, or similar platforms.
- Advanced analytical skills to quickly identify and resolve complex network issues.
- Experience leading network upgrade or migration projects, including planning, documentation, and execution.
- Strong technical writing skills to create and maintain accurate network diagrams, procedures, and incident reports.
- Able to remain calm and effective during critical outages or security incidents.
- Ability to evaluate current infrastructure and recommend improvements aligned with organizational goals.
