Position Description: Senior NetApp Storage Engineer
CGI is seeking an experienced Senior NetApp Storage Engineer to support a large-scale enterprise storage environment. The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on expertise with NetApp ONTAP, FAS/AFF/C-Series platforms, SAN/NAS storage, automation, and enterprise infrastructure integration.
This role will be responsible for implementing storage changes, performing technology refreshes and upgrades, supporting new feature deployments, troubleshooting complex storage issues, and contributing to strategic infrastructure initiatives. The engineer will work closely with storage, compute, networking, virtualization, database, and infrastructure teams in a highly integrated enterprise environment.
The environment currently includes approximately 80 on-premises NetApp ONTAP nodes, Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP, StorageGRID, VMware, and an evolving OpenNebula virtualization environment.
Your future duties and responsibilities:• Participate as a key member of the storage pipeline/engineering team responsible for implementing infrastructure changes across the NetApp environment.
• Perform NetApp technology refreshes, ONTAP upgrades, configuration changes, and new feature implementations.
• Support the implementation and administration of security capabilities such as Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and Multi-Admin Verification (MAV).
• Administer and support approximately 80 on-premises NetApp ONTAP FAS/AFF/C-Series nodes.
• Support ONTAP 9.15.1+ environments and maintain enterprise storage availability, performance, and reliability.
• Support and help expand the organization's Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP (FSxN) footprint.
• Develop and maintain storage automation using Ansible and related automation technologies.
• Support NetApp Console and Data Infrastructure Insights (DII, formerly OCI/Cloud Insights).
• Field ad hoc technical requests from storage team members supporting active initiatives and projects.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex storage and infrastructure issues.
• Support data center migrations, storage migrations, platform upgrades, and other large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Work extensively with compute, networking, virtualization, database, and infrastructure teams to ensure successful integration with enterprise storage platforms.
• Support VMware-based environments while contributing to initiatives evaluating OpenNebula as a future hypervisor platform.
• Support the current VMware SRM/SRA environment and related storage integrations.
• Utilize the NetApp Shift Toolkit to support migration initiatives where applicable.
• Support SnapCenter Server for SQL and Oracle backups and SnapCenter Plug-in for VMware (SCV) for VM backup environments.
• Support and maintain the organization's NetApp StorageGRID environment, consisting of approximately 24 on-premises SG5712 nodes across two sites.
• Perform StorageGRID maintenance and upgrades and support its current use with FabricPool.
• Collaborate with monitoring and operations teams utilizing Active IQ Unified Manager (AIQUM), Harvest/NAbox, and ServiceNow for alerting, incident creation, and operational support.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:• Strong hands-on experience administering and engineering NetApp ONTAP enterprise storage environments.
• Extensive experience with NetApp FAS, AFF, and/or C-Series platforms.
• Strong knowledge of ONTAP 9.x, preferably ONTAP 9.15.1 or later.
• Experience with enterprise NAS and SAN storage technologies and protocols.
• Strong experience with storage configuration, upgrades, migrations, troubleshooting, capacity management, and performance optimization.
• Experience automating NetApp infrastructure using Ansible.
• Experience integrating NetApp storage with large-scale compute, networking, virtualization, database, and infrastructure environments.
• Experience supporting VMware/vSphere environments and storage integrations.
• Experience with enterprise backup and recovery technologies, preferably NetApp SnapCenter.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues spanning storage, networking, compute, and virtualization layers.
• Ability to work effectively across multiple technical teams and manage both planned engineering work and ad hoc project requests.
• Strong communication, documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $100,800.00 - $176,300.00.
