Full Job Description
The University of Virginia seeks a Senior Director for the UVA | Northern Virginia initiative.

The Senior Director, reporting to the Dean, will assist in leading the strategic direction of education for the UVA | Northern Virginia initiative. The Senior Director will work to develop and promote a broad array of educational initiatives, including synchronous and asynchronous online and in-person offerings. This role will oversee the planning, scheduling, and coordination of these programs. Success in this role will require creativity, flexibility, and a strong capacity for independent follow-through.

Responsibilities:
  • Establishes and monitors performance metrics and operational dashboards to evaluate program effectiveness, campus utilization, enrollment, and strategic initiatives, using data to inform decision-making and continuous improvement
  • Provides leadership and coordination for the development, implementation, and ongoing support of new and existing educational programs, collaborating with academic leaders and centralized university partners across admissions, enrollment, marketing, instructional technology, information systems, library, and student support services
  • In partnership with the Provost's Office, develops, manages, and monitors operating budgets, financial forecasts, and resource allocation, working with staff and leadership to achieve revenue and expense targets while ensuring responsible fiscal stewardship and compliance with university policies
  • Directs campus operations, including facilities management, space planning, capital improvement coordination, safety and security, business continuity, operational policies, and the management of contracts and external service providers
  • Develops strategic partnerships with academic units, government agencies, healthcare systems, corporations, economic development organizations, and community stakeholders to expand educational offerings, workforce initiatives, and regional engagement.
  • Collaborates with external providers in the development of relevant market research and trends in adult education
  • Manages and develops a team of 4 FTE

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience: 7+ years related professional experience, to include 3+ years of formal managerial experience required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex operating budgets, financial planning, forecasting, and resource allocation
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams and managing complex organizational operations within higher education or similarly complex organizations
  • Experience building strategic partnerships with external organizations, government agencies, and industry leaders
  • Working knowledge of higher education administration, instructional systems, campus operations, financial management, and organizational leadership
  • Ability to create positive and open-minded inter-group communications. Excellent oral and written communication skills that easily translate for academic and community audiences

Physical Demands

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.

The anticipated hiring range is $130,000 - $155,000, commensurate with education and experience.

This is a restricted position, which is dependent on funding and is contingent upon funding availability.

This position is based in Northern Virginia (Fairfax) and must be performed fully on-site.
