Job Summary:
The Senior Director of Program Management will work closely with the leadership team to advance strategic and business objectives through the execution and growth of programs. A highly visible senior leader, this role will coordinate across the organization to drive the development and execution of programs. S/he will manage and develop all Program Managers in the execution of programs to deliver technical solutions on time and on budget. The Sr. Director of Program Management will drive process improvements and tools to improve organization efficiency and effectiveness, and proactively identify and manage risks. The face of the Program Management Organization, this role will engage customers during the pre-sales process thru delivery.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage Program Managers in the execution programs of various size and complexity for both domestic and international customers. Focus specifically on programs that have significant production levels, are identified as Strategically Significant Programs (SSP) or are otherwise critical to our business.
- Assess and communicate Program requirements to the appropriate functions across the corporation. Coordinate functional support as needed to meet contractual requirements. Organize, plan and direct program schedules and costs across all functional areas.
- Develop, lead and report relevant metrics, drive action items and accountability.
- Monitor programs to detect or anticipate conditions, which threaten the achievement of the program plan.
- Establish and Lead Integrated Program Teams (IPTs) of interdisciplinary staff through the lifecycle of product development and delivery.
- Develop and expand customer relationships to meet business objectives. Seek new customer relationships. Actively communicate with customers and build relations with relevant decision makers/influencers primarily to understand customer needs but also to aid in the field of marketing – all with a view to increase and win business.
- Monitor and report program progress status internally to leadership and, as required by contract or relationships, externally. Monitor profitability, risk and risk management actions and results for concerned programs.
- Be the key channel of communication for customers and act as escalation in the event of customer issues.
- Drive risk management processes that identify risks and mitigation solutions.
- Be responsible for maintaining excellent customer relations with both new and existing customers.
- Oversee all interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of all commitments made relative to product development timelines, delivery, quality, and the required business metrics.
- Oversee and manage export compliance activities associated with transfer of materials, data and services to foreign customers, suppliers, agents and/or partners.
- Lead Lean Management activities to assure continuous improvement of overall order to delivery processes.
- Maintain current and continuously identify/develop new business opportunities. Support Business Development in winning contract negotiations with customers and actively work to identify additional sales within existing contracts.
- Review and approve bids/offers/quotations with focus on SoW, schedule/reviews, risks, costing of program management.
- Provide inputs (to Service and/or Product Management) for new services, products, improvements, or changes to existing products, to drive increased revenue (satisfy customer needs that we do not address today).
- Assess business risks and actively manage/coordinate risk mitigation activities through internal established organization, e.g. Sustaining and Supplier development queues. Actively identify, plan and initiate activities for eliminating/reducing risks that can affect the bid/the program’s deliveries.
- Be leader for the total delivered performance as seen by the customer and collaborating with other stakeholders. Communicate customer issues to organization and coordinate corrective action efforts.
- Actively contribute and deliver content in the development of winning proposals.
- Driving Program Management Process improvements.
- Responsible for customer satisfaction reviews and corrective actions.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field
- Experience leading US Government projects of significant size and complexity. Desirable to have experience with large programs and/or with international customers.
- Tenacity, dedication, inventiveness, and a strong self-motivation to drive the business to succeed.
- Success in performing in a matrixed organization.
- Exposure to robust system engineering methodology/terminology.
- Experience in development of EOIR systems desirable.
- Minimum of ten years’ experience as a Program Manager, Senior Leader, Lead Engineer or Systems Engineer.
- Proven track record of managing programs with challenging technical, schedule, and cost requirements as well as complex customer and subcontractor relationships
- Knowledge of US Government procurement practices. Desirable to have certification from DAU or Project Management Institute (PMI) Project/Program Management Professional (PMP/PgMP).
- Familiar with DOD/MIL standards and the military equipment acquisition and qualification process.
- Superb analytical, project management and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Experience in preparing & and delivering presentations to senior leaders in government, customers, or peers. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively to promote collaboration across the corporation.
- Demonstrated exceptional leadership and decision-making skills.
- Excellent computer skills with a strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Microsoft Project as well as working knowledge of ERP systems.
- Must be willing and able to travel internationally.
- Must be able to obtain a US Government security clearance.

Salary Range:
$188,000.00-$250,700.000

Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, local regulations (such as minimum wage), education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
