Position DescriptionPerforms the administrative duties of planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating special development efforts. Responsibilities may include: cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individual, foundation, and corporate support for the TTU/System; adherence to the prospect management system; and plans, coordinates and evaluates development goals. Responsible for fiscal management of development goals. Work is performed under general supervision with broad latitude for initiative.
Major/Essential Functions- Qualify, manage, and build meaningful relationships with a portfolio of 100-150 donors whose philanthropic interests align with the University's strategic vision.
- Develop robust fundraising proposals, solicit donors for philanthropic gifts, and secure major gifts as outlined in annual plans.
- Meet goals for key metrics such as substantial contacts, visits, portfolio penetration, and solicitations as established each fiscal year in annual plans.
- Supervise, hire, train, and evaluate development staff who are responsible for soliciting major gifts on behalf of Texas Tech University and the Office of Advancement.
- Adhere to procedures and best practices regarding documenting donor interactions, annual giving, donor engagement and stewardship, alumni relations, events, gift processing, and utilizing the donor alumni database.
- Represent Texas Tech University, the TTU Office of Advancement, and the Whitacre College of Engineering at university, alumni, and community events in a professional manner.
- Maintain a collaborative culture and serve as a great colleague within the TTU Office of Advancement, with TTUS Institutional Advancement, within the Whitacre College of Engineering, and across the University in an effort to strengthen the philanthropic culture at TTU.
- Assist your direct supervisor (and Dean when appropriate) in developing a college, school, or unit based annual plan for the Whitacre College of Engineering that aligns with the strategic vision of Texas Tech University and the TTU Office of Advancement.
- Manage a college, school, or unit budget specific to advancement opportunities (travel, events, stewardship, etc.), and be a good steward of those resources provided by the University, college, and donors.
Schedule DetailsWork Location Expectations: In an assigned on-campus office in Lubbock, Tx. Travel and overtime are required as needed to attend meetings, events, and donor visits.
Preferred Qualifications- Proven record of accomplishment in fundraising; having personally secured major gifts of $100,000 to $1 million plus; and annual production of $2 million plus per year.
- Proven track record of raising major gifts and managing a donor portfolio.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Familiarity with technical disciplines. Experience working with university leadership to advance relationships that will lead to their investment in priority areas.
- Experience supervising others.
- Demonstrated success in securing philanthropic gifts great than $1M to support the higher education institutions.
- 5+ years experience working within university development or alumni relations.

The Office of Advancement is searching to fill a position within the Texas Tech University Whitacre College of Engineering. The Whitacre College of Engineering is one of the original academic areas of Texas Tech which opened in 1925. Today, there are seven departments which offer 9 bachelor's, 13 master's and eight doctoral degrees as well as two graduate certificate programs.
